Ixion, Quaoar, Varda Multi-Generational Conjunction in Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius

At the time of the writing of this article, Ixion, Quoar and Varda have separated significantly, but this was not always the case…

Quaoar is currently the forerunner at 8 degrees Capricorn, followed by Ixion at 4 degrees Capricorn, and light bearer Varda at 27 degrees Sagittarius conjunct the Galactic Centre.

Since around the early 1960s to as recently as 1992, all three these objects travelled together in very close orb (6 degrees in this case) for an extended period of time, while together spanning three different zodiac signs, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius, over about 30 years. The midway of their tight orb timeframe seems to be around 1976 - 1978; when they moved together most closely and intimately. This entails multiple generations of people born, within or around these dates, having this conjunction in the birth chart, perhaps even conjunct personal planets…

What does this mean in astrology?

For those individuals who don’t have any personal planets, progressed personal planets or angles conjunct this infamous conjunction… this information might be meaningless. However, those with personal planets, progressed planets or angles conjunct these three trans-Neptunian objects in close orb, this information may mean a great deal…

The writer of this article has this conjunction within 4 degree orb of each other, and for me this study has help me with meaningful understanding around a great deal of mystery in my life. I would describe this conjunction as a massive contradiction, between people of great maturity, versus great immaturity. The polarities in this conjunction describe energies that are so vastly different, and when they are together in conjunction, there is a struggle to differentiate between them.

Fortunately the energies do come alive when triggered by a transit or progression conjunction.

This astrological researcher has studied each of them separately in terms of their discovery charts, and watched for the insights during activation of the energies.

Interestingly, these conjunctions feature quite strongly in the discovery charts of various trans-Neptunian objects. In the discovery chart of Eris, Varda, Sedna, Varuna, Ixion, Orcus, MakeMake, Quaoar, Gonggong, Haumea the three object conjunction is wide, although two of the three objects are sometimes in tight conjunction.

Below is a list of the Kuiper belt objects (that had already been named) in the order of being the most brightest as viewed from Earth:

  • Pluto

  • MakeMake

  • Haumea

  • Charon

  • Orcus

  • Quaoar

  • Varda

  • Varuna

  • Ixion

Orbit Around the Sun

Below is a look at the planets in terms of their distance from the Sun, and their orbit around it. This makes it easier to understand why these extremely slow moving objects, would travel together in tight conjunction for about 30 years. Of the three objects, Varda is the slowest moving, and right now transit Varda is behind Ixion and Quaoar who still come in close conjunction from time to time.

  • Neptune takes 165 years

  • Orcus takes 245.19 years

  • Pluto takes 248 years

  • Ixion takes 251 years

  • Varuna takes 279 years

  • Haumea takes 283 years

  • Quaoar takes 288 years

  • MakeMake takes 306 years

  • Varda takes 313 years

  • Gonggong takes 554 years

  • Eris takes 556 years

  • Sedna takes 11,390 years.

Discovery Date of Well known trans-Neptunian Objects

It’s also curious that the three objects were discovered in close succession because they were in tight conjunction at the time in early Sagittarius:

  • Neptune 23 September 1846

  • Pluto 18 February 1930

  • Varuna 28 November 2000

  • Ixion 22 May 2001

  • Quaoar 4 June 2002

  • Varda 21 June 2003

  • Sedna 19 November 2003

  • Orcus 17 February 2004

  • Haumea 28 December 2004

  • Eris 5 January 2005

  • MakeMake 31 March 2005

  • Gonggong 17 July 2007

Who was Ixion and the Astrological Significance?

Trans-Neptunian object Ixion in astrology and Greek mythology is about betrayal, disloyalty, great immaturity, attachment to money, insincerity and being a reckless player.

Ixion in Greek mythology was the privileged King of Thessaly turned calculated disgraced annihilator and dethroned murderer of his father-in-law, who he dug a grave for by pushing him into a fire pit and claiming the deliberate action was an accident. Neighbouring kingdoms refused to cleanse Ixion’s guilt, therefore he was outcasted to live in the wilderness.

Ixion is about the immature, untrustworthy, false and disloyal who want to play in the face of those of influence, high honour and established respect who are on a powerful pedestal; to bring ingratitude, disrespect and discredit.

It’s a story of those bad boys/girls who find it hard to learn their lessons, going around the same karmic cycles, with similar karmic partners, never learning from experience. Ignorance is bliss, entitlement for reward without effort the norm, having shits and giggles at another’s expense feels good, and screwing people over lots of fun, until you try to screw over the wrong person. It’s being forced by an authority into learning the lessons of the Karmic Wheel the hard way, after refusing to address the entitlement, rebellion, illusions or inner corruption, or taking a gain to make another lose unfairly in relation.

Ixion is about loose cannon players with bad habits, leadership without restraint, seduction, gossip and manipulating others, finally getting restrained in or for the mess of their making… Ixion is the sinner on display, not only for guilt of spilling the blood of kin, but for the disrespect and betrayal in the guest/host relationship.

Ixion wanted others to lose control of their lives, but was forced by the flaming wheel to lose control of his own and be in a loop of negativity… This was his massive fall from grace… twice…

Ixion built a faulty foundation on his own lies to himself. It is being the very worst kind of martyr; to suffer by your own dedication to poor investments rooted in trickery and untruth.

In the end, betrayer Ixion felt betrayed and victimised that he was so bound up in a scheme of his own making, that he would have to be dealt with, and given no more chances; to face punishment bound to the flaming wheel.

Who was Varda and the Astrological Significance?

Varda is the bearer of light, and the elf-like queen of the Valar, creator of the stars, one of most powerful servants of almighty Eru Ilúvatar in J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional mythology. The newly discovered trans-Neptunian planet Varda is named after her. Varda is one of the Valar whose passion for creativity and co-creation is strong; with her specialty being the creation of light illumination and stars.

Astrologically, Varda energy is all about the light and inspirational quality that a person carries - who is loved by many - that is envied by the antagonist that had turned toxic by the sight of it, due to what it stirred in them. It’s about the chase for light and creative blessing, and those who feel small and uncomfortable when another has blessings and just due rewards.

Varda saw Melkor’s mind even before the music of the Ainur and despised him. For this reason, Melkor feared and hated Varda the most of all, for in the beginning he had been unable to control the light, which Varda was most associated with. Melkor (also known as Morgoth) looked at the creative abilities of Eru and Varda, and became jealous and envious, and wanted to create as well. He weaved his strange thoughts into the music, and distorted it. When Antagonist Melkor destroyed the lamps, Almaren and its lake were destroyed, and the Valar left Middle Earth, for their new home Valinor. They created a chasm between the low vibrational Middle Earth and their high vibing home. Valinor became the blessed realm of Arda, away from Melkor's envious eye. Yet the inhabitants of Middle Earth were in darkness. So Varda fashioned stars for them that gave them hope, and they loved and adored her for it.

In essence, Melkor was so dark and vindictive that he did not want anybody to have anything good. He wanted everybody destitute (no home, no finances, no job, no sustenance, nothing). Melkor needed to see others loose EVERYTHING. Anything that remotely ties to abundance, he wanted to see them loose. Any gifts from ‘the creator’ he wanted them NOT TO HAVE. He is vindictive, sneaky and calculating; to win at all cost. He wants others to have: no progress, no growth, no opportunities. Melkor needs others to hurt, to make them stay and be stuck to him and his smoke-screens. He is in foolishness, deceit, mind games, and lies.

To stop others from creating, co-creating and being creative.

Also destroying everything that others had built. In malice. Wanting his previous co-creators (the Valar) to be distraught and destitute. To deliberately cause injustice for others. In Tolkien’s stories, Melkor and other dark lords often got others - through lies and distortions - to join them in going against the Valar in battles and chess games. Melkor doesn’t have any good fortune, so he wants others to believe in poverty mindset, and to not have anything good either…. He sees Eru and Varda’s divinity, and wants to disconnect everyone from their divinity.

Tolkien wrote the popular books that turned into the movie The Lord of the Rings, about a metaphysical place called Middle Earth, which is based on a clear dualism between the spiritual and material world. It is very much a story of the protagonist creator and his/her creation, and the antagonist who can’t find that same light inside themselves, and considers themselves as being ‘without the spiritual creator force’ to produce creative activity. And in that quest for what the antagonist thinks they lack, destroys what is good. Varda’s discovery chart also reveals that Morgoth/Melkor really doesn’t care for the amassed generational wealth of other people, and think nothing of destroying it; he only cares for his own desires. Twice Melkor destroyed the luminaries that was the life giving light, heart, and enjoyment for all of Middle Earth and the Valar; first the lamps, then the two trees.

Melkor’s attack was on the very sense of stability and security of everyone else. Here we see how Varda grows, each time having to implement renewed creative energy to fashion new light, after the darkness and despair that Melkor brought. The antagonistic enemy challenged all of life to such an extreme, that Varda had to reach ever deeper for mastery; that the third time she fashioned luminaries sun and moon for all to enjoy, it resulted in intimidated Melkor finally fleeing from their light. Varda energy is the loved being of light and inspiration to many, at the receiving end of a win-at-all-cost battle to be controlled and dominated by an overlord. In a nutshell, Varda energy do carry themes of sudden massive collapse and death of the old way, having to walk away from previous associations and betrayals, having to look towards new horizons, and starting fresh elsewhere. Varda energy carries the poverty versus abundance polarity in the story, just like many of the other TNOs and KBOs.

Who was Quaoar and the Astrological Significance?

According to Tongva mythology, it was Quaoar who danced and sang with a song in his heart, the world and other deities into existence.

In Tongva mythology, Kwawar (or Quaoar) is the creation force of the universe, singing and dancing deities into existence.

Quaoar (pronounced "kwaa'·waar") is the name of a creation deity of the Native American Tongva people, native to the basin area around Los Angeles, California and the Southern Channel Islands, an area covering approximately 4,000 square miles (10,000 km2), Chingichngish, (also spelled Chengiichngech, Chinigchinix, Chinigchinich, Changitchnish)also known as Quaoar also had other names; including Ouiamot, Tobet and Saor.

The name Quaoar was first recorded by Hugo Reid in his 1852 description of Tongva. It was recognised as an important mythological figure of the Mission Indians of coastal Southern California, a group of Takic-speaking peoples, some of which are the Tongva (Gabrieliño and Fernandeño) peoples.

Chinigchinix was born, or first appeared, after the death of Wiyot, a tyrannical ruler of the first beings, who was poisoned by his sons. Wiyot's murder brought death into the world, and as a consequence, the male creator Night divided the first human ancestors into distinct peoples, assigning them languages and territories. The name Ouiamot is ostensibly similar to Wiyot (Ouiot), the name of another important figure, the primeval tyrant killed just before the appearance of Chinigchinix. Ouiamot is possibly to be taken as Ouiamot the childhood name of Chinigchinix. Quaoar's parents were Tacu and Auzar, or, according to other accounts, he was born of Tamaayawut (Mother Earth). According to yet other accounts, "he had neither father nor mother", yet is generally referred to with masculine pronouns.

Like in most other creation myths, at first there was Chaos, and a person who caused destruction. Then along came Quaoar. He was sorrowed by the emptiness in existence and began to dance, whirl, and twirl all about while he sang the Song of Creation. God of the Sky, Weywot, was first to be formed of the creation melody. Next came Chehooit, who became Goddess of the Earth. These two new deities joined in the dance and created the sun and moon (Tamit and Moar, respectively). Together these five sang and danced everything else into existence: animals, plants, people, and the other gods as well. His work finished, Quaoar faded into obscurity, perhaps returning to wherever it was he came from originally.

This cluster is about the dark treachery, betrayal and disloyalty (Ixion), in trying to dim another’s bright divine light, joy and happiness (Varda) to delay their enlightenment (Quaoar). It’s about turning over the burden of betrayals and the disappointments of the low vibrational over to the soul, for light and wisdom instead.

Ixion was a leg in the Sedna Yod for more than 20 years, and this concludes in 2023. Quaoar/Ixion is part of the longstanding square with MakeMake making a very significant Hammer of Thor apex in Taurus for many years. Varda takes over from Ixion as leg in the Sedna Yod in 2024. This is discussed in detail in other articles on A Bigger Picture.com
