Astrologically, Varda energy is all about the light and inspirational quality that a person carries - who is loved by many - that is envied by the antagonist that had turned toxic by the sight of it, due to what it stirred in them. It’s about the chase for light and creative blessing, and those who feel small and uncomfortable when another has blessings and just due rewards. It’s about those genuinely CHARITABLE who are able to create a foundation of GREAT WEALTH or a LEGACY OF EMOTIONAL FULFILMENT (physical or intangible) through their creative genius, unconditional love or overflowing abundance, and those who envy this picture of happiness, to steal or destroy it.
In the ancient past, anticipating of the AWAKENING of the Elves, Varda took the glistening silver dews of the White Tree Telperion and with them made the night's brightest stars, setting signs and symbols of LIGHT in the sky to light the dark lands of Middle-earth and to stand as a warning to Melkor. For this reason Varda was also surnamed Tintallë, 'the Kindler', while in the Sindarin of Middle-earth her title 'Lady of the Stars' was rendered Elbereth, and she was revered for giving light to the Long Night before the Sun and the Moon.
Varda saw Melkor’s mind even before the music of the Ainur and despised him. For this reason, Melkor feared and hated Varda the most of all, for in the beginning he had been unable to control the light, which Varda was most associated with. Melkor (also known as Morgoth) looked at the creative abilities of Eru and Varda, and became jealous and envious, and wanted to create as well. He weaved his strange thoughts into the music, and distorted it. When SPITEFUL antagonist Melkor destroyed the lamps of light, Almaren and its lake were destroyed, and the Valar left Middle Earth, for their new home Valinor. They created a chasm between the low vibrational Middle Earth and their new high vibing home. Valinor became the blessed realm of Arda, away from Melkor's envious eye. Yet the inhabitants of Middle Earth were in darkness, still on the verge of awakening. So Varda fashioned stars for them, and their LIGHT gave them hope, and they loved and adored her for it.
In essence, Melkor was so dark and vindictive that he did not want anybody to have anything good. He wanted everybody destitute (no home, no finances, no job, no sustenance, nothing). Melkor needed to see others loose EVERYTHING. Anything that remotely ties to abundance, he wanted to see them loose. Any gifts from ‘the creator’ he wanted them NOT TO HAVE. He is vindictive, sneaky and calculating; to win at all cost. He wants others to have: no progress, no growth, no opportunities. Melkor needs others to hurt, to make them stay and be stuck to his smoke-screens. He is in foolishness, deceit, and mind games.
To stop others from creating, co-creating and being creative.Also destroying everything that others had built. In malice. Wanting his previous co-creators (the Valar) to be distraught and destitute. To deliberately cause injustice for others. In Tolkien’s stories, Melkor and other dark lords often got others - through lies and distortions - to join them in going against the Valar in battles and chess games. Melkor doesn’t have any good fortune, so he wants others to believe in poverty mindset, and to not have anything good either…. He sees Eru and Varda’s divinity, and wants to disconnect everyone from their divinity LIGHT.
Tolkien wrote the popular books that turned into the movie The Lord of the Rings, about a metaphysical place called Middle Earth, which is based on a clear dualism between the spiritual and material world. It is very much a story of the protagonist creator and his/her creation, and the antagonist who can’t find that same light inside themselves, and considers themselves as being ‘without the spiritual creator force’ to produce creative activity. And in that quest for what the antagonist thinks they lack, destroys what is good. Varda’s discovery chart also reveals that Morgoth/Melkor really doesn’t care for the amassed generational wealth of other people, and think nothing of destroying it; he only cares for his own desires. Twice Melkor destroyed the luminaries that was the life giving light, heart, and enjoyment for all of Middle Earth and the Valar; first the lamps, then the two trees. Melkor’s attack was on the very sense of stability and security of everyone else, as is reflected in the discovery chart of Varda as well.
Eris trine Varda
Varda energy is the loved being of light and inspiration to many, at the receiving end of a win-at-all-cost battle to be controlled and dominated by an overlord. In a nutshell, Varda energy do carry themes of sudden massive collapse and death of the old way, having to walk away from previous associations and betrayals, having to look towards new horizons, and starting fresh elsewhere. Varda energy carries the poverty versus abundance polarity in the story, just like many of the other TNOs and KBOs. In the discovery chart, Varda is conjunct Ixion (betrayal) in Sagittarius, also conjunct the South Node in Scorpio (more betrayal), squaring Mars, Uranus and Gonggong in tight orb. This is very harsh and challenging energy, in contrast with the mystic rectangle, and Varda’s fictional mythology fits in very well with this. Varda conjunct the North Node in Scorpio is about the great need for getting out of the toxicity and stagnancy (Scorpio) of visions gone sour (9th house), and regenerating to build grand new ones (Varda in Sagittarius), with stability (North Node in Taurus).
In April 2024, Varda permanently takes over as the main leg in the Sedna Yod, as Ixion moves out of the 2 - 3 degrees afforded a yod in November 2023, taking it beyond 2030. Varda herself conjucnt the Galactic Centre at the end of 2023 is also at the apex of a Hammer, with trans-Neptunian object Varuna at 8 degrees Leo squaring yet unnamed object 55636 at 9 degrees Taurus, and makes a Hammer of Thor aspect pattern on Varda conjunct the Galactic Centre in Sagittarius.
One of the best ways to experience the potent energy of Varda (or any of the other KBOs) is in the week before a Varda station to go retrograde. Check your ephemeris or the Calendar of Events.
