Record Rainfall, Climate Crisis and the Powerful Directional Energies on Gonggong in Astrology

Some part of the world are experiencing massive rainfall, flooding, landslides, soaked land, and resulting devastation with the Gonggong Yod activated, with others have seen scorching temperatures with extreme heatwaves, heat domes and prolonged temperatures. This video shows multiple northern hemisphere countries going beyond 40 degrees celcius, wild fires etc. and in another video astrologer Pam Gregory has demonstrated how in history, Uranus in Taurus has been associated with extreme dry heat (MakeMake in Libra currently squares Quaoar in Capricorn exactly in the 7th degree of their signs, making a Hammer of Thor apex on Uranus in Taurus at 22 degrees.) However, this article will look at the Gonggong and the flash floodings…

In astromythology, Gonggong was a Chinese water god responsible for the chaos of floods, landslides, and the tilt of the Earth in ancient Chinese legends.

It’s a metaphor for a kind of experience that is synonymous with Gonggong in Pisces as astrological influence, connected to ‘once in a century’ type flash flood devastation.

These kinds of disasters are behind the political talk of climate change and climate anxiety, which is supposedly to blame… (Not the astrology though... Yods and Hammer of Thor aspect patterns carry very heavy directional energies when projected onto a planet/object; Gonggong in this case.)

This recent article and others on the Gonggong Blog explains how and why trans-Neptunian object Gonggong is associated with massive, unusual flooding, and disaster preparedness, therefore that information will not be repeated here.

Gonggong Yod Mid July 2023

On the 17th of July 2023, MakeMake at 7 degrees Libra sextiles Varuna at nearly 7 degrees Leo and makes a yod apex on Gonggong at 5 degrees Pisces conjunct Saturn at 6 degrees Pisces; this aspect pattern is calle the Gonggong Yod.

Vermont USA - Worst Flooding in Nearly 100 Years July 2023

Around mid July 2023, The US state of Vermont received catastrophic rainfall causing flooding affecting millions in the nation's north-east, that is prompting a state of emergency. In Vermont, it is reported as the worst flooding in nearly 100 years has cut-off entire towns and washed away roads and railway tracks. The storms were described as life-threatening and catastrophic, with reports of the potential for the Vermont dam collapsing. Two days of heavy rains equated to two months of rainfall for the area.

According to this report, Vermont governer Phill Scott reportedly said that the state hasn’t seen rain like this since tropical storm Irene hit the region in 2011, damaging or detroying more than 200 bridges and other infrastructure damage.

Today the Gonggong Yod is under heavy pressure, as Gonggong also was when Tropical storm Irene reached Vermont on 28 August 2011, when Gonggong at 1 degree Pisces was in tight conjunction with Neptune and Chiron, in tight opposition to Orcus in Virgo.

1927 Great Flood Disaster in Vermont and Gonggong?

This news report by a local, states that most people in the Vermont area has seen this flood devastation at least twice in their lifetime (considering tropical storm Irene in 2011 and the 2023 event), but this kind of flooding in Vermont has not been seen since 1927.

In September 1927 a GRAND TRINE involving Gonggong, Ixion, Varda and Orcus was in tight orb in Earth signs, and according to this website, a very wet October had resulted in paving the way for already tough conditions; like water saturated soil.

A chart of 2 November 1927 reveals Gongong at 21 degrees Capricorn in a GRAND TRINE with Ixion at 24 degrees Virgo conjunct Varda at 25 degrees Virgo, and Orcus at 20 degrees Taurus. How epic is this grand trine in Earth signs?

The 1927 flood destroyed 1285 bridges, killed at least 84 people, and destroyed many buildings and much infrastructure. Environmental historians attribute a number of possible causes for the extreme flooding, including deforestation, saturation of the soil, and the lack of living greenery because of the fall season.

The flood is seen as a turning point in relations between the state government and the governments of the towns. Floodwaters destroyed many bridges which were the towns' responsibility to maintain and repair, but many towns lacked the resources to rebuild their bridges. The state government undertook the task and in so doing assumed a larger role in the statewide road system. The next year, President Calvin Coolidge (a native of Vermont) visited the state. He saw how Vermont had recovered from the flood and made a famous speech in Bennington in which he observed, “I love Vermont because of her hills and valleys, her scenery and invigorating climate, but most of all because of her indomitable people.” He went on to praise “the people of this brave little state of Vermont” for their endurance.

South Korea Torrential Rains July 2023

Mid July South Korea was afflicted by heavy rains that triggered flooding and landslides. According to the 17 July 2023 report, at least 37 people have died in South Korea and thousands have been evacuated. After the writing of this article, more deaths continued to be discovered. The deaths include the initial 9 people whose bodies were pulled out of a flooded tunnel, where 15 vehicles became trapped in muddy water in a tunnel. Footage show a stranded bus that got caught up, and rescuers trying to reach people stuck in the flooded tunnel. It was a death trap. At least 50 people are dead or missing in floods and landslides. That is the highest number of fatalities in 12 years. Iksan is one of the worst affected areas. Many farmers say their livelihoods have been ruined, with crops destroyed, farmland damaged and more than half a million livestock killed.

Taiwan Engulfed in Epic Floods July 2023

Taiwan, a beautiful island nation in East Asia, is no stranger to the fury of typhoons and monsoon rains. However, in recent days, the country has been grappling with the devastating impact of heavy rains that triggered severe flooding. The relentless downpours have resulted in a significant loss of life, widespread destruction, and economic setbacks. The southwestern regions of Taiwan were hit particularly hard by torrential rains in the past week, leading to a disastrous flood situation. Excessive precipitation, often exceeding 200 millimeters within 24 hours, caused rivers to overflow their banks, inundating vast areas, submerging homes, roads, and infrastructure. See this video for astonishing footage.

Chile Floods June 2023

A month earlier in June, when the Gonggong Yod was also within tight orb of influence, central and southern Chile have experienced the heaviest rainfall recorded in the last 30 years. On 23 June, the impact intensified as communities faced flooding caused by swollen rivers, resulting in more than 21,673 people affected, 6,575 people isolated and 1,651 people sheltered, primarily in rural areas. Subsequently, on 24 June, the government declared a state of catastrophe spanning from the Valparaíso Region to the Biobío Region, approximately 450 kilometers south of Santiago. The overflow of the multiple rivers and watercourses has caused significant damage to infrastructure, housing, and crops. Basic services, such as the supply of drinking water and electricity, have also been disrupted. The flooding also caused turbidity in the water purification system operated by Aguas Andinas, posing a threat to the water supply of a significant portion of the region. The magnitude of this emergency was just astonishing, and left a trail of destruction across seven regions. See this video.

Spain Sudden Severe Flash Flooding July 2023

After a period of prolonged drought, Spain is now reeling under intense spate of flash flood. Zaragoza in Spain has experienced flash flooding as torrential rain and hailstorms have battered the province. The heavy downpour resulted in several streets being inundated, causing some drivers to become trapped in their cars. Within a short span of time, some areas experienced an accumulation of up to 54.2 liters per square meter of rainfall, resulting in the inundation of roads, including one of the ring roads. Numerous motorists found themselves trapped in their vehicles, or the roof of a car, or clinging to trees, prompting the intervention of firefighters and diving teams to rescue them from the floodwaters under highly dangerous circumstances. Firefighters in Zaragoza, capital of the Aragón Region of Spain, carried out multiple high-water rescues after raging flash floods swept through the city. The region was hit by a series of storms in a short period on during the afternoon and evening of 06 July 2023. Flood depth in the city was estimated at 2 metres. See this video for extreme footage (warning it may be disturbing).

Japan Torrential Rain and Mudslides July 2023

In Japan, torrential rain pounded the southwest, causing floods and mudslides that left two people dead and at least six others missing Monday. Local TV showed damaged houses in Fukuoka prefecture and muddy water from the swollen Yamakuni River appearing to threaten a bridge in the town of Yabakei. Many called it the “heaviest rain ever” experienced in this region, despite it being the rainy season at present.

Japan is no stranger to the destructive force of natural disasters, and once again, the country finds itself grappling with the aftermath of heavy rainfall.

In Kumamoto, located on the southwestern island of Kyushu, torrential rains have triggered widespread havoc, leading to the evacuation of over 360,000 people. This alarming situation has forced the nation to mobilize rescue efforts and reinforce its commitment to disaster preparedness. See this video.

Mongolia Floods July 2023

Since the 3rd of July, heavy rains triggered floods that continues to affect people in Mongolia's capital, Ulaanbaatar. The water levels of the Selbe and Tuul Rivers flowed at dangerous flood levels, collapsing the Selbe River Dam, battering a city that is ill-equipped to handle the water mass. According to the IFRC report of 7 July, 128,000 people from 31,600 households have been affected by the flood. The media report more than 20,000 people have been placed in safe shelters. Soldiers of the Mongolian army and emergency officers have been deployed for the flooding rescue and relief activities, including setting up relief centers, distribution of relief items, disinfection of flood water and protection of flood walls. The media quoted the government experts that it is heaviest in the last 50 years. See this video.

North India Deadly Floods and Monsoonal Mayhem July 2023

The video below shows incredible visual footage about how heavy rains have brought life to a standstill across India. Landslides and floods lashed several parts of the country. From river Beas engulfing towns and highways in Himachal Pradesh to record-breaking rains in New Delhi, the video is mind-blowing. Monsoon rains is an annual problem across Northern India and other countries, but reports say that “it rains for fewer hours, but when it rains, it rains heavily”. Several states, including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, face extensive damage and disruption.

This video shows the incredible strain that Delhi is under due to drainage that cannot handle the deluge of water. According to this report, a 41 year old record has been broken in New Delhi. Another video attempts to explain why Northern India is facing heavy rain, with mammoth devastation to infrastructure. Schools have been shut and most offices have asked employees to work from home. Trains have been cancelled, roads waterlogged, infrastructure damaged, and flights delayed. Watch the video to know what officials at the meteorology department had to say. Reports from local news stations don’t hold back on the devastation. This video shows how rivers are gushing, swallowing houses, bridges with cars bobbing downstream like pawns.

Currently, Gonggong is at the apex of a Yod with MakeMake sextile Varuna, but Gonggong is also a leg sextile Quaoar in the Varuna Yod.

In addition, Quaoar at 7 degrees Capricorn sextiles Gonggong/Saturn at 5-6 degrees Pisces and makes a yod apex on Varuna at nearly 7 degrees Leo; this aspect pattern is called the Varuna yod.

In addition, MakeMake squares Quaoar and makes a direct Hammer of Thor aspect pattern on Uranus in Taurus. Yikes… Taurus rules the land, food systems, infrastructure, farming, the bull etc. and Uranus the shocks and surprised in that area. The Sedna Yod and Haumea Yod are within 3 degree orb.

At the heart of Gonggong energy, there seems to be a high sensitivity and orientation towards situations of uncertainty, that is rooted in an ongoing, big picture process; where the final result is very difficult to predict, control, mitigate or handle appropriately, especially when potentially moving towards, or are at, disaster level.

The astrology of 20 July 2023 is epic indeed, as the chart below shows. MakeMake at 7 degrees Libra sextiles Varuna at nearly 7 degrees Leo and makes a yod apex on Gonggong at 5 degrees Pisces conjunct Saturn at 6 degrees Pisces; this aspect pattern is called the Gonggong Yod. In addition, Quaoar at 7 degrees Capricorn sextiles Gonggong/Saturn at 5-6 degrees Pisces and makes a yod apex on Varuna at nearly 7 degrees Leo; this aspect pattern is called the Varuna yod.

MakeMake also squares Quaoar and makes a direct Hammer of Thor aspect pattern on Uranus in Taurus. Yikes… Taurus rules the land, food systems, infrastructure, farming, the bull etc. and Uranus the shocks and surprised in that area. The Sedna Yod and Haumea Yod are within 3 degree orb. This is potent astrology…

Note:

After this article was published, more areas received massive rainfall and flashflooding, like Beijing experiencing its heaviest rainfall in 140 years at the start of August 2023, not only due to rain from the North West mountains, but multiple typhoons.

See this article on Neptune through Pisces for the details regarding this timeline demonstrated above.
