Once in a Century Flooding in Australia, and the Gonggong Yod and as Hammer of Thor apex

This Wikipedia page lists floods in Australia and shows that there isn’t really much of a pattern to these events, when listed like this. However, if one considers the floods that locals call ‘once in a century’, and when they happen multiple times to the same community, that makes one pay attention.

The video below talks about the country town of Rochester, Victoria, Australia who had rebuilt themselves from a ‘once in a century’ flooding event in 2011, only for it to happen again in 2022. What happened cannot be comprehended by the usual standards, so how can we make sense of these highly unusual events, that may not necessarily be associated with cyclones or tropical storms? Astrologically? These are rural towns - in flat countryside - that are hundreds of kilometers from the ocean, and without the usual contributing factors, like large mountain ranges typically associated with triggering high flooding events.

2010 was recorded as the state of Queensland, Australia’s wettest spring since 1900, and the Australian continent's third-wettest year, which is interesting as Neptune first moved into Pisces in April 2011, its watery home sign, while conjunct Gonggong and Chiron, and most astrologers know what that means… lots of water issues… and conjunct Gonggong… watery disaster… Other articles listed in the Gonggong blog also discuss other times of massive flooding when Gonggong and Neptune made some major tight aspect to each other…

See this article on Neptune through Pisces for the details regarding this timeline demonstrated above, which will not be discussed in this article.

The 2011 Victoria Flood and the 2022 Rochester ‘Once in a Century’ Flood

  • According to Wikipedia, high intensity rainfall between 12–14 January 2011 caused major flooding across much of the western and central parts of the Australian state of Victoria. Many of the towns were previously affected by floods in September 2010, however the 2011 event was more severe, affecting at least four times as many properties with thousands of evacuations being called for by the State Emergency Service. As of 18 January, more than 51 communities had been affected by the floods. A total of over 1,730 properties had been flooded. The Campaspe River reached an historic peak of 9.12 metres - exceeding 1956 levels - and has split the town in two. An evacuation warning was issued for Rochester's entire population of about 3,000 people.

  • The following devastating flood occurred in October 2022 and was much higher than the 2011 flood. The flood of the Campaspe river measured at more than 115.56m. The Gonggong Yod was highly activated and in tight orb at this time.

The astrology of both events are quite remarkable. However, there is more…

How is Gonggong Associated with Massive, Unusual Flooding?

Gonggong was a Chinese water god responsible for the chaos of floods, landslides, and the tilt of the Earth in ancient Chinese legends. It’s a metaphor for a kind of experience that is synonymous with Gonggong as astrological influence.

The trans-Neptunian dwarf planet discovered in 2007 is named after Gonggong. To understand why this story is so relevant to China, consider the massive river systems that flood and rage annually, that has been unprecedented in the scale of damage in 2022. The Gonggong Yod came into 3 degree orb afforded a Yod around mid 2016 when Varuna moved into Leo, however Yods like this are often highly pronounced when in tight orb, and towards the end of them being in tight orb.

A reported ‘Once in a thousand years’ rains devastated central China (called the Henan Flood) in July 2021, when the Gonggong Yod was in tight orb with Gonggong at 4 degrees Pisces, with MakeMake at 6 degrees Libra and Varuna at 4 degrees Leo. Scenes of utter destruction appeared in the media, due to devastating record rain. The 2022 flash floods in China was record breaking with the Gonggong Yod again in very tight orb.

  • Also consider the astrology that took place when some NSW, QLD and VIC regions in Australia experienced ‘once in a century’ type flooding, like what happened in January - March 2011, when Haumea in Libra squared Varuna in Cancer, making a Hammer of Thor apex on Gonggong in Pisces conjunct Chiron and Neptune.

  • More ‘once in a lifetime’ floods happened around 2022 when the Gonggong Yod, Sedna Yod and Haumea Yod were within tight orb. The catastrophic twin Lismore, NSW, Australia floods early in the year happened just as Jupiter - the planet of expansion - had been conjunct Gonggong. On August 2020 to mid 2022, Gonggong at 5 degrees Pisces has been at the apex of the Gonggong Yod in tight orb, with objects retrograding only slightly out of the 2-3 degrees orb allowed for a yod…

This article shows data of Australia’s most expensive floods, dated 23 February 2023. It shows that the scale of the twin Lismore 2022 floods was immense. Lismore was hit first in February, and cruelly again in March, “combining to become Australia's biggest natural disaster since 1974's Cyclone Tracy.” “The insurance loss was estimated at $5.7 billion, the second most costly insurance event in the world in 2022, and the most expensive disaster in Australian history.” “Almost 240,000 insurance claims were lodged. But, one year on, one in five claims are yet to be resolved. The insurance picture has been complicated by federal and state-sponsored government buyback and land swap schemes, which have left many Lismore locals confused, frustrated, and pushed to the brink.” See this video by the Project above: it shows that by mid 2023, just 1 per cent of Northern Rivers property owners who lost their homes in last year's floods have reached a settlement under the Federal and NSW government's buyback scheme.

These kinds of disasters and disaster preparedness, are behind the political talk of climate change, which is supposedly to blame… (Not the astrology though... Yods and Hammer of Thor aspect patterns carry very heavy directional energies when projected onto a planet/object.)

These disasters destroy massive amounts of expensive infrastructure, like homes and businesses, that insurance is then expected to cover. The floods even destroy the ability to make a living off the land, as fertile topsoil, crops, and farm animals are carried off, which then becomes the burden of the insurer and the ultimately the bank, who may want to take their asset back. It’s the kind of damage that begs for government buyback schemes, due to homes built on flood prone plains, such as those that indigenous Aboriginal Australians know as vulnerable to ‘once in a century’ type floods and disasters.

What happened when Gonggong was Discovered?

Trans-Neptunian object Gonggong was discovered on 17 July 2007, and during this time Gonggong itself was newly arrived in zodiac water sign Pisces conjunct the North Node in Pisces. A series of large floods occurred in parts of the United Kingdom during the summer of 2007.

It was England's wettest June/July on record in what was described as “a summer of suffering”. Civil and military authorities described the June and July rescue efforts as the biggest in peacetime Britain. The Environment Agency described the July floods as critical and expected them to exceed the 1947 benchmark. The July 2007 floods was a wake up call and case study for stronger flood risk management, clarification of roles, more effective communication amongst responsible organisations, better protections for infrastructure, wider public engagement, etc. There were some deaths but homelessness, lack of electricity, drinking water, sanitation etc were a huge problem. Similar floods happened during that time in other countries… Disaster reports from 2007 shows Sri Lanka had massive flash floods in January, in February Jakarta was virtually under water, and Bangladesh saw floods and landslides, and India’s moonsoon was particularly troubled by torrential rain, etc.

Curiously, trans-Neptunian object Haumea at 12 degrees Libra squared fixed star Sirius at 14 degrees Cancer, which mades a wide orb Hammer of Thor apex on Gonggong, when the Gonggong was discovered. A Haumea ephemeris shows that Haumea (at 14 degrees Libra) had been in tight orb forming that Hammer of Thor apex on Gonggong earlier in 2007, however it was the opposition of Venus and the Moon, that brought triggering action in the aspect pattern. Astrologically, Haumea do have ties with the kind of disasters that lead to tsunami’s. See the Haumea blog for information on that….

At the heart of Gonggong energy, there seems to be a high sensitivity and orientation towards situations of uncertainty, that is rooted in an ongoing, big picture process where the final result is very difficult to predict, control, mitigate or handle appropriately when at disaster level.

Every summer the rains fall from the broken sky in north-west China, and create monstrous torrents of water as they ‘fall’ and move through the sometimes narrow river systems towards the south-east, and some years the damage caused is much worse than others, and in different areas.

Gonggong is also a leg in the Varuna Yod.

Government BuyBack Schemes Working for the Community

In very rare occasions, and circumstances, like in the example below, some communities can benefit from government buyback schemes. This community in Sherwood, Brisbane, Australia was affected when the banks of the Brisbane river flooded certain areas where the river meandered significantly. The value of these homes were high before the floods, due to it’s proximity to the city and the beauty surrounding the river, however, approval for building in this area should never have been permitted. These communities were inundated during the 2011 floods, as this article explains, and after going under again in the 2022 floods. The Brisbane River peaked at 3.85 metres, just short of the predicted height of 4metres. Up to 18,000 homes have been flooded across the region. According to this article, there was something like 50,494 insurance claims from the 2022 floods, and in February 2022, 23,400 Brisbane homes and businesses, plus 200 community groups, were flooded across 177 suburbs.

It’s not hard to see why someone would rather make up a narrative about climate change for disaster preparedness, instead of pointing the finger at an obvious astrological influence at play…

The Gonggong Yod is currently in effect, with Saturn conjunct Gonggong in Pisces. Saturn stays in conjunction with Gonggong until it departs in forward movement in February 2024, but it is not certain if Saturn's restrictive qualities on the flooding will be sufficient to stem the tide against the powerful directional energies in this yod... This week rain and flooding resumes accross England.
