MakeMake and the Astrology of Managing Fertile Resources or Abusing Leadership of Them

MakeMake’s Rapa Nui island’s climate changed, due to human mismanagement of fertile natural resources. Fertility is a highly important concept in ancient sea-fairing Polynesian culture, that is perhaps most important in the mythology, of MakeMake (pronounced MakeiMakei). Rapa Nui culture of the time before near total societal/environmental collapse worshipped MakeMake, the bird man spirit, which has strong connections to the Hawaiian stories of Haumea, who had a magical stick/branch called the makalei, which is symbolic of providing food abundantly, from nature’s natural capital and wealth. In Hawaii, nature is lush, green and provides abundantly, however, Rapa Nui islands climate changed due to human activities, which meant that nutrient-dense foods like the egg, became paramount for fertility, on multiple levels.

The Voice is a push in Australian politics to give indigenous Aboriginal Australians an opportunity for advisory input on how Australian resources are managed.

On the 20th of June 2023, The Voice was given the Yes vote in the Senate, despite what some call a ‘refusal’ to announce THE DETAILS. Many indigenous Australians in politics and positions of indigenous leadership seems to have had high hopes that power be bestowed to them, to make necessary changes and decisions that would improve the lives of the previously disadvantaged and marginalised. There is a lot of confusion, and uncertainty around what The Voice entails, to put it mildly… and there will be a referendum in months to come for Australian citizens to vote, which is why writing about this is so challenging on one side, yet so easy on another…

For some time this astrologer has been pondering about which astrological influence most represents The Voice and it GIVING CONSTITUTIONAL RECOGNITION to indigenous Australians; it has been very unclear and controversial. However, in the days leading up to MakeMake changing direction, going direct (the 25th of June 2023), there has been an unravelling of key information in the Australian media, that has revealed it as decidedly MakeMake, as is reflected in MakeMake’s discovery chart with that emphasis in the 8th house that deals in leadership getting recognised for managing shared resources, social justice in fair stewardship, and also abuse of power in leadership, over those shared resources… It’s quite astounding…

The video above describes what is currently going on, in the days after the Senate yes vote, for The Voice referendum to be had. Please remember that by the time the reader reads this information, things may look very differently… From this astrologer’s point of view, it would seem that the Labour government under prime minister Anthony Albanese is keeping their cards close to their chests, as it pertains to the details, so only time will tell how the story goes…

Astrology of The Voice Yes Vote:

In June/July 2022, Uranus in Taurus came close to being at the apex of the MakeMake square Quaoar Hammer of Thor apex, and we saw a scaremongering regarding Foot and Mouth Disease potentially breaking out in Australia, that would destroy its livestock industry, with massive losses and repercussion described in earlier articles. When the Senate voted yes to The Voice on 20 June 2023, Uranus in Taurus is inching towards being at the exact Hammer of Thor apex. Uranus entails sudden shocks, surprised, revolution, flashes of genius, and sudden divine insight, and Taurus the Bull rules earthly matters, the land, agriculture, cattle in particular, finances, fixed assets, etc. See the chart below.

At this time, three of the four yods are within tight 2-3 degrees orb, the Gonggong Yod, Haumea Yod, Varuna Yod, but not the Sedna Yod.

Sedna is newly arrived in zodiac sign Gemini, as of 15/16 June 2023. This is a time of massive change, and that is good… This article is NOT ABOUT FEAR MONGERING… Click to enlarge images.

Uncertainty about The Voice Strategy, and Lack of Clarity around Details

The Labour government is being accused of having no proposed model behind the yes vote, and it is easy so see why they would keep their cards close to their chests; Uranus is all about complete UNPREDICTABILITY and how sudden shift of insight, in the Australian masses, has the potential to change outcomes, often COMPLETELY. Being at the apex of this Hammer of Thor, the planet of revolutionary change Uranus is even more UNSTABLE and UNKNOWN, although general astrological potentials can be made… This astrologer is looking forward to the massive potential for benevolent change that can come, not only from the astounding astrology, but as the collective consciousness is allowing potentials never seen before.

It’s an exiting time to be alive, despite the fear that is so palpable. There is a lot that can be added around potential “political suicide”, or potentially no power awarded to indigenous people, to improve in the lives of massively disadvantaged Aboriginal people, particularly those in isolated rural communities, but that is not worth speculating on in this article. The fact of the matter is that the Labour government has been neglecting on the massive cost of living crisis and the housing crisis, while seemingly PUTTING ALL OF THEIR EGGS IN ONE BASKET. In this video, Shadow Indigenous Affairs Minister Jacinta Nampijinpa Price claims that the Voice referendum is “backfiring” against the Albanese government as people are more concerned about the cost-of-living crisis Australia is facing, while increased migration policies and zero emission policies are given preference, with electricity prices massively rising. Australians are fair-dinkum, and they see things not adding up, but things get a different lens when the trans-Neptunian objects are explored…

Astrology of MakeMake and the Politics of Managing Resources

The astrology of Makemake is related to understanding the need for preservation of the natural world, a connection to environmental wisdom, and the effective leadership and activism associated with defending natural ecosystems. Haumea is strong in the natal charts of those with a profound love for nature, where MakeMake tend to be strong in the natal charts of leaders in environmental activism. MakeMake is about regenerating ecological systems, ecocide, being connection to the natural world, and connection to spirit, and in Libra it may see divine laws ultimately supercede man’s law. Nature will do as it pleases and if we don’t care to read the omens, we shall feel the effects of ignorance. A lot has already been said about MakeMake in the discovery charts, and on the MakeMake blog, which will not be repeated here.

On a practical level, MakeMake is related to militant climate activism, nutritional depletion, physical degeneration, not-having-enough fears, and making bad choices that results in the kind of devastation that is hard to recover from.

MakeMake is the energy of crabs in a bucket that scramble for resources and riches, after scarcity tactics had been implemented: realising almost too late what is really relevant as it pertains to sustainability, physical survival and being able to thrive.

In MakeMake’s discovery chart, there are several key themes that are worthy of exploring again. Makemake is highly young Arian energy, but without Venusian nourishment, with that Venus behind the vibrant rays of the sun, in the Sun conjunct Venus superior conjunction in the 4th house in the discovery chart… This means that MakeMake as an astrological energy is devoid of the Venusian; and this is important for understanding it… for the deep Venus nourishing energy is the ‘missing’ magic…

As part of MakeMake’ mythology, the birdman competition was the collective scheme that would suit the collective value; which is providence and being nutritionally satisfied, while also desiring to indulgence on nutrient-dense food (like a bird’s egg), when that is an option for only a few. MakeMake and the story of the birdman are decidedly about indulging and creating troubles, making things worse by refusing to accept failure of a selfish lifestyle, that prolongs suffering and prevents aid, and delay of a resolution to the problem. MakeMake is the story of near EXTINCTION on Rapa Nui island, due to desecrating natural resources and having a great difficulty maintaining agrarian ethos, male fertility and sustainable population.

MakeMake was the spirit who was able to guide the birds to the island of Moto Nui over a vast ocean, to nest where the warriors could take the first egg of the season, that would give victory to their clan and its leader, and the exclusive, ELITIST privilege to enjoy the nutrient-dense resources of Moto Nui for a year. This practice started when the main island Rapa Nui’s ecosystem, male fertility, and slowed down population growth, were potentially already in decline. The definition of poverty says a lot about MakeMake energy: it is the state of being extremely poor. It is the state of being inferior in quality or insufficient in amount. It’s not having enough to meet basic needs. Poverty may be defined as a human condition characterised by sustained or chronic deprivation of the resources, capabilities, choices, security or power necessary for the enjoyment of an adequate standard of living and other civil, cultural, economic, political and social rights.

Absolute poverty (also called extreme poverty) is the lack of sufficient resources to secure basic life essentials. Makemake’s story shows us what is truely worth preserving in life… and it includes stark realities and wake up calls… for know it all, pretentious individuals, who might have caused heartbreak that may seem irreversible, due to being stone, cold-hearted…

As a result of this imbalance that MakeMake energy creates, it’s not hard to see why MakeMake is about drumming up a political force for change in how resources are managed.

However, just like the all the other trans-Neptunian objects, MakeMake has SENSIBLE higher expression and a COLD COMFORT lower expression.

Higher expression MakeMake is about receptivity to collective forces, tapping into wisdom, spiritual guidance and spiritual renewal, but through nutrient-dense foods, isolation and meditation.

It’s about putting aside competitive, individual goals, so we can tune into higher forces that focus on the bigger picture and collective aspiration for real solutions. It’s about recognising the LACK of sensitivity, sensing and feeling not part of MakeMake energy, and knowing that the ability to love, nourish, have empathy, and relate, are what is missing from the equation (the Sun/Venus superior conjunction).

Lower expression MakeMake is all about the win at all cost battles for leadership superiority, and the challenge to gain elitist control to enjoy privileges that are supposed to be shared resources, but there isn’t enough for everyone…

It is a story of scrambling crabs in a bucket, and the birdman competition collective scheme that would suit the collective value; which is providence and being nutritionally satisfied, while also desiring to indulgence on nutrient-dense food (like a bird’s egg), when that is an option for only a few.

MakeMake is that energy of being in such a rush to stage a defeat for another - to secure a gain - that you don’t see that you are digging a deeper hole for yourself and everyone else.

MakeMake astrological energy is about COLD COMFORT, and being too accustomed to lacking sympathy for others, and over-indulge at another’s expense. The lower expression struggles to find something that makes them feel better, or truely satisfied from within; this is why there are radical extremists and revolutionaries caught up in their hysterical fears, on some looming battleground, ready to step into a disorderly, protracted fight, struggle or dispute. Why? It’s about the resources they desperately need, to fill that empty craving and inner calling from within; for genuine fulfilment, instead of the superficial kind that entails abuse of power and leaving others ‘without’ what they need.

The Moon and Saturn are in mutual reception, putting a massive emphasis on leadership that provides nourishment, or brings a harsh poverty to the emotionally needy party.

MakeMake is about rushing head first ‘over a cliff’ with some idea, and about not having planned something well at all. The higher expression is about the almost too late salvation; finally realising the dire consequences of fools rushing in where angels fear to tread… and needing to pivot, fix or mitigate the f***-up fast, due to abuse of power and being a hothead not grounded in reality.

In the currently astrology, MakeMake is a leg in the Gonggong Yod.

MakeMake in Libra is also making a square with Quaoar in Capricorn, and puts a Hammer of Thor apex on Uranus in Taurus. Click on the image below.

Astrologer Pam Gregory has demonstrated how in history, Uranus in Taurus has been associated with extreme dry heat (MakeMake in Libra currently squares Quaoar in Capricorn, making a Hammer of Thor apex on Uranus in Taurus.) It’s quantum change and revolutionary.

However, there is also three Hammer of Thor aspect patterns in MakeMake’s discovery chart, that sheds profound light on the crisis of the energy…

Three Hammer of Thor Aspect Patterns that Sheds Profound Light on Mechanistic Thinking MakeMake Energy and Shared Resources

This article explores three hammer of Thor aspect patterns in MakeMake’s discovery chart. Eris conjunct the North Node and asteroid Persephone in Aries squares Saturn in Cancer and makes a Hammer of Thor apex on trans-Neptunian object Varda, which is a hammering on the aspects that brings genuine light and hope to those in darkness. This hammering from Eris square Saturn speaks of the massive pressure in plots and alliances that leads to the silencing of guiding light and hope, under the pressure of the stark situation. Persephone is an Underworld figure feminine energy that is about detox, hope and rebirth, out of disempowerment, into empowerment and autonomy, and the significance as conjunct to Eris, is a long story for another day…

This hammer is about authority perhaps claiming a beneficial spiritual practise and connection to something grander, to justify leadership and over-indulgence, but manipulation that leads to the snuffing out the genuine light that gently showed the way…

In addition, Varda squares Uranus and makes a Hammer of Thor apex on Saturn and Kassandra, may also be seen as a rite of passage into maturity, like the missing Venusian energy. The square brings massive tension between finding light and divine insight, to stubborn, set in his ways Saturn in Cancer, next to Kassandra, which is about the smart-ass not heeding the good advice. This tension takes place in the house of shared resources (8th) and deals with how we obtain NOURISHMENT; wether it is the food that deeply satisfies the body’s nutritional needs, or the drive to find the divine ‘golden treasures’ within, for true divine insight, to make right choices that is in everyone’s best interest, instead of an immature, short-sighted abuse of power display, that puts egg on their face.

The third Hammer of Thor apex falls on Gonggong at 29 degrees Aquarius, with Jupiter conjunct Haumea in Libra squaring Varuna conjunct Sirius in Cancer. Gonggong is all about great ‘once in a century’ type disasters and the mitigating factors that need to be put in place to lessen the severity of the disaster on the community… next time… Hammers are powerful directional energies, and this one is clearly highly significant as the orb of influence is tight…

Image: The annual "bird-man" competitions took place here in the Spring with a representative from each of the tribes. Competitors would climb more than 200 meters (656ft) down the cliff wall of the volcano, swim with the help of reed floats out to the islet called Motu Nui, retrieve a new egg from the Manutara bird. They then had to swim back and climb up the cliff. This bigger picture in the 8th house is very challenging for MakeMake lower expression to comprehend, being so caught up in the aspiration to win, hoard or have it all their way, that they may fail to see how everyone is actually losing because of their selfish shenanigans to be the victorious party in leadership

In astrology, Saturn is often the RESPECTED MORAL AUTHORITY PEOPLE who are a PILLAR IN SOCIETY, or a TOWER OF STRENGTH and RESILIENCE that those around them can draw on for good leadership, representation, support, however, in the 8th house, Saturn takes on a different colouring due to the unique temptations… MakeMake lower expression can be quite obsessive for the role or position to acquire FAME and RECOGNITION, for power, status and influence, as the Aries stellium opposed to Jupiter square star Sirius in Cancer shows in the discovery chart.

Sirius conjunct Varuna in Cancer 8th house, is about being challenged to bring social justice to all parties as it pertains to shared resources. A resource is an asset, capital or means that are meant to be FERTILE, even in adverse circumstances.

Fertility is the quality of being productive, and being virile, as in the ability to conceive children. Other MakeMake articles talk about NUTRIENT-DENSE foods, like the humble egg, that are high in certain nutrients typical of foods like pasture-raised beef, pig, chicken and unpasteurised dairy, like fat soluble Vitamins A,D, and K, and certain essential fatty acids in a balanced ratio, found in the food production systems that work in harmony with nature…

Lower expression MakeMake is all about COLD COMFORT, and being too accustomed to being limited in sympathy, consolation and encouragement. The image below is of the large stone moai statues. The little stones between the grass are considered to have been placed there, before the near complete collapse of Rapa Nui society, in order to stop the topsoil from being removed, and allow REGENERATION.

Foresight VS Hindsight

Please note that the following is in no way intended to reflect on the current Australian government, but it is presented here for the sake of examining MakeMake energy, and what this might entail for the future, for it is important that we learn from the MakeMake lower and higher expression of the energy.

Why? MakeMake has been squaring Quaoar for many years, however it is in June 2023 that a highly significant Hammer of Thor apex is made directly on Uranus, that will in later years apex on malefic fixed star Algol, and beyond 2030 on Sedna in Gemini. When these slow moving objects aspect each other like this, they tend to move together for MANY, MANY years, thus a broad exploration of the energy is considered acceptable in this case, for the sake of gaining wisdom from HINDSIGHT, FOR FORESIGHT.

Another trans-Neptunian object, Eris, also has a cluster of planets/TNO objects in the 8th house that sheds profound insights on the astrological significance of the object; Eris.

The focus on the 8th house in MakeMake’s discovery chart shows how selfishness, greed for ‘appearances’ or a luxurious lifestyle at another’s expense have been around for thousands of years, and Pluto/Scorpio/8th house issues are a theme common attribute of a good number of the TNOs. The 8th house is the house of wealth, however, with Saturn there, it is grim reaper Saturn as the manipulative miser personified. Saturn is also square the bendings, which entails a strong fate or destiny innate in MakeMake energy, that entails that the Saturnian actions have consequences far-reaching... You reap what you sow.

Saturn is about status quo AUTHORITY, and being dictatorial, trying to exert control over another, failing to lead or meeting their true potential, or in the higher expression, making the changes to upright themselves, out of the inner corruption…

It’s about having operated without principles in negotiations that affect others. Rapa Nui island are full of imposing stone moai statues where the heads are larger in proportion to the body, which is a curious synchronicity when compared to STONE COLD, RUTHLESS SATURN power-hungry for RICHES and ACHIEVEMENT in business or government leadership, that should be a source of nourishment for all… It’s about not having a strong spiritually connected backbone or the endurance, to be in charge of something that many depend on…

Saturn at 20 degrees Cancer is also conjunct asteroid Kassandra at 22 degrees, which is directly at the bendings. This is a very important clue to MakeMake energy, because this astrological influence is about highly accurate DIVINATION, INSIGHT and PROPHECY, however, it is also about those in society not heeding the good insights. In Greek mythology Kassandra was the daughter of King Priam of Troy, who after refusing the advances of god Apollo, cursed her to speak truly without ever being believed. Kassandra lived her life warning others about CALAMITIES, but they never believed her. No matter how much Kassandra warned everyone about the Trojan Horse, they ignored her, to the DOOM of everyone.

Astrologically, Kassandra represents issues with belief and credibility; trustworthiness; judgments about whether to believe others; prophetic gifts and foreknowledge; offering counsel and rejection of advice.

The Hammering on Saturn in Cancer in the 8th house is about needing to learn lessons and take responsibility regarding thieving/squandering of another party’s inheritance or blessings, needing to open the eyes to the greed, attachment to money, the societal harm, and repercussions of bad leadership and actions rooted in self-enrichment, when it comes to the stewardship and productivity of shared resources.

It’s the devilish, duplicity bad reputation attained in selfishness and serious lapse in judgement, trying to avoid a dire ending.

It’s examining the taking thrill in self-serving winning at all cost behaviour for prestigious leadership, and the emotional distress caused… unable to understand another’s pain… perhaps secretly wanting them unstable and disconnected from the abundance, that is there and meant for everyone… It’s trying to get ahead at all cost.

In astrology, the eight house is about shared resources, joint financial matters, legacies, material possessions, fortune, abundance, luxuries, inheritances, and TAX PAYER’S MONEY.

Saturn in the 8th house is a classic expression of status, despotism and using power to control people.

Saturn in Cancer here is what lends it that mighty impetus in MakeMake energy to take charge of the shared resources and how it nourishes the people involved, and managing it according to how the miser sees fit, making others go ‘without’. It’s feeling entitled to grab the shared resources in some battle of wits and taking ownership of it, through the projection of leadership of it. The determined intention for Saturn (leadership) in Cancer (emotional wellbeing) is to make a party cave into the DOMINANCE over them with pressure and submit to guerilla-like assault or warfare, for victory over (the shared resources).

The 8th house is the assessing of what wealth is there, getting jealous and growing obsessive over the wealth, and the scheming for the acquisition of control over it. For self-enrichment. The eighth house is about a kind of merging, and how one partner’s wealth adds to, or undermines one’s own wealth. It’s also the house of great power struggles with others, that involves facing fears, and getting to the bottom of control issues. It’s the deep probing into the underlying currents that feed a personal demon, and being liberated from it by growing and healing from a toxic situation. It’s a domain that includes issues like dark psychology, crime, bad karma, dirty tricks, revenge, jealousy, and control. It is the house of the shadow's power, and the transformation of that deep complexity at the bedrock of a person’s character.

Image:

As expressed previously, the Moon in Capricorn and Saturn in Cancer are in mutual reception, putting a massive emphasis on leadership that provides nourishment, or brings a harsh, calculated poverty to an emotionally needy party. There is an intention to hurt another’s feelings, to feel better.

Ironically, asteroid Ceres most associated with nourishment in astrology, is in Scorpio.

Saturn in the 8th house in water sign Cancer, is the obsession with another’s great fortune, wether physical, mental or spiritual. Saturn in conjunction with Sirius and Varuna brings into the equation the perceived right to do as one pleases in position of leadership over the shared wealth, and social justice for everyone in the house of shared wealth also having to take place. There is a lot of pressure on cold, calculated Saturn to act with integrity, and when not, the t-square pressure on Sirius and Varuna may bring bring forth regeneration, wealth and social justice for the disadvantaged. How ironic…

The video below shows what recently was thought of as impossible, is now spontaneously happening. Supermarkets in Australia are moving away from caged eggs, in a shift to free range eggs, which may not be the same as the pasture-raised standard that is a different production system model, but at least the birds are given a better life, that is closer to their natural habitat.

In it’s discovery chart, MakeMake at 20 degrees Virgo squares Pluto in Sagittarius, but more importantly is part of two Yods. The first is MakeMake sextile Saturn making a yod apex on Neptune within 3 degree orb, and Eris in Aries sextile Neptune making a yod apex on MakeMake. Yods are extremely potent and unpredictable energies, and together these yods speak of great illusions (Neptune), and win at all cost battles for control (Eris) and leadership (Saturn), that activate on the apex points.

Easter Island is a survival story of dwindling resources, cultural resilience and self-determination.

It is about being in the natural flow of one’s own divine energy, and the concept of natural law; that each human being need to find integrity and moral compass within themselves first, before they can be in leadership of their brethren.

Image:Chile on the globe. Chile centered and Easter Island to the left via Wikimedia Commons.

The globe to the right shows the isolated location of Rapa Nui island 2,030 miles from South America. Being confined to an island double the size of Manhattan, where agriculture and fishing were the only means of survival, meant that droughts, piracy, foreign diseases, and many other influences had the potential to completely eradicate Rapa Nui's livelihoods.

The history of the Rapa Nui is divided basically into three periods: the moai carving era, the Birdman Cult era and the colonisation/modern era, which are described in part 1 as it relates to the astrological understanding of dwarf planet MakeMake.

The preoccupation with carving moai statues, ended up taking a toll on the limited natural resources of the tiny island, so, by the late 1500’s, the moais were ignored in order to make way for a new tradition: The Birdman Cult.

The goal was fertility, but this has multiple interpretations and meanings that need to be understood, explored as was explored in the MakeMake blog

The Survival Of Easter Island by Jan Boersema

Stark Truths and Hard Facts

Jan Boersema’s book The Survival of Easter Island describes that the developments on Easter Island were an ‘ecological and cultural catastrophe’. It says that since the 1990’s, the collapse interpretation has been deliberately placed in a broader context and expressly tied to global environmental issues, pointing that Easter Island is a grim warning to the world, on the dangers of depletion of natural resources, pollution, and not monitoring population growth. The book explains the dramatic details, that Easter Island experienced possible cannibalism, people starving in caves, peasants slaughtering priests and artists…

Whatever the case may be, regarding drawing micro to macro comparisons, the core of the collapse theory is a causal chain of evens with a seemingly logical order: deforestation, erosion, food shortages, hunger, strife, and finally a sharp decline in population.
