MakeMake, Environmental Activism, Advocacy for Rights and Leadership in Astrology

Image: The annual "bird-man" competitions took place here in the Spring with a representative from each of the tribes. Competitors would climb more than 200 meters (656ft) down the cliff wall of the volcano, swim with the help of reed floats out to the islet called Motu Nui, retrieve a new egg from the Manutara bird. They then had to swim back and climb up the cliff. The first competitor to return with an intact egg was declared winner and would earn the privileges of the king during 12 months. via Wikimedia Commons. In the previous two articles regarding the discovery chart of MakeMake, we explored how essential it is that a society have it’s worthy wisdom-keepers.

These are the individuals who are connected to spirit for genuine divine guidance, direction, and sacred knowledge. The discovery chart articles also demonstrated how a society ruled by fiery, energetic, opinionated, and enthusiastic activists looking to secure their own desires - without the appropriate divine connectedness - may face quite dire consequences being led astray by their own over-enthusiastic but immature leadership.

The discovery chart articles showed that Rapa Nui at the time, was a society who believed in ‘mana’ which is a mystical combination of power, prestige and prosperity. Mana means different things, which will be explained in a seperate article. Towards the end of the Birdman era, they were groups of militant people who wanted to overpower, overcome, defeat, conquer, and subdue others by superior force, to gain privilege. The superior Venus Cazimi in Aries in the discovery chart of MakeMake indicates that the feminine principle is eclipsed by the masculine, and due to not being able to access the energy of that balancing force - due to leadership not tapping into that innate feminine principle regarding earth wisdom - it has led an entire community astray. Right into self-destruction due to an over-focus on the masculine principle, an innate blindspot to the feminine and an inability to relate to each other in harmony.

Societies come to a fall when they don’t mature, nor tap in to genuine sage council. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and is prone to arrogance, immaturity, recklessness, and impulsiveness.

Not everyone who has spent a year secluded in the mountains, are suddenly a high priest, shaman or guru, nor having the spiritual authority worthy of guiding a community with sacred messages from the divine… The Birdman was seen being able to move between two realms of heaven and earth, as the messenger of MakeMake, thus they collectively allocated the tradition social value to the institution. But the annually replaced

Birdman, is also a human being under a guise, and who knew what an opportunistic predator laid beneath… potentially using social license for his own ends… Perhaps initially the common belief worked for the masses; that the warrior who would find the first sooty tern egg, would have a sponsor ‘chosen’ or worthy of being the next Birdman. But as the human shenanigans kicked in to rig the rules of the game to keep their privileges in place, there were clearly many injustices…

Please remember that the following is for the PRIMARY goal of research, study, and understanding of the astrological energies of dwarf planet MakeMake.

If your primary goal is NOT to understand the significance this has for the astrological community, this article is not meant for you. Learn about the ethics and integrity of this work here.

Headiness of Aries versus Down to Earth Practicality

Image: Ahu Akivi are the only moai that face the ocean. Easter Island, watch the hands and fingers, click to englarge. via Wikimedia Commons.

Rapa Nui is a story of how the gods who were put on a pedestal, died.

For how can you believe in a god who gave the ‘advice’ and directives that would slowly kill your entire way of life and existence… Many things contributed to destroying life on the island, but the failure to gain sincere wisdom that could have been implemented in a methodical preserving way, and not in a self-serving way that over-exploited natural resources, did play its part.

In the discovery chart of MakeMake, the zodiac sign Aries is prominent. In medical astrology the head is ruled by Aries. How curious that the entire Easter Island are full of big heads put on pedestals, and how they all eventually came to a fall?

At first people were invested in carving the moai with their obviously ‘swollen heads’ and there were competition to build them bigger and bigger, to gain ‘mana’.

Moai were believed and supposed to guard the living, but as people lost their faith in them, they instituted the Birdman contest, were the annually-replaced tapu (sacred) tangatu-manu birdmen were also venerated above what they deserved.

It’s a tale of cut-throat but deceptive high priest leadership, that is undeserving, and not being able to invest in two monolithic systems at the same time. The old massive time investment in carving moai statues - in order to gain ‘mana’ from the forefathers - had to be released. Why? To save what they had been in ignorance of, to prevent the soil of the deforested land from being washed away by torrential rains into the ocean. They did this by laying out stone gardens, for the ecological preservation of the last remaining fertile topsoil by the use of stone mulching. A massive sacrifice of the old, and a new committed time investment had to be made to guard arable soil and save the fertility of their food producing soil. To be able to grow food and allow the earth to take care of them… instead of being up in the head, over-thinking, quarrelling, scheming for control, for someone’s high-horse importance…

By finally implementing the right kind of change, and turning their back on hot-head ambitions, they brought forth an ecological sea-change despite a dying ecology.

With Jupiter conjunct the South Node in Libra, expansion in the wrong direction can take the whole community down (11th house). The North Node in Aries is conjunct Eris (5th house), showing that it was through suffering massive accounts of being done dirty, that individuals can learn to look for the life force ‘mana’ vitality inside of themselves (5th house), instead of looking for it somewhere outside of themselves… or as a bestowment that needed earning from their ancestors, as seems to have been the belief. But first the Rapa Nui society of the time had to almost self-destruct, due to realising almost too late, that they needed to give up their collective time investment in the wrong beliefs and pursuits…

VENUS CAZIMI

There has been a lot of razzmatazz around ecological changes and environmental activism in recent years. The story of the Birdman tradition - connected to newly discovered dwarf planet MakeMake - is a great way to illustrate how each individual group advocates for their own desires (Venus Cazimi), and how that infringes on the rights of others. And how the fighting, cheating, manipulating feeding frenzy of activism can take everyone down…

Image: Advocacy via Wikimedia Commons.

In MakeMake’s discovery chart, Eris conjunct the North Node in Aries opposes Jupiter in Libra, and makes a t-square to Saturn in Cancer in the 8th house.

The human collective have to share planet Earth (8th house resources), but for far too long one party collectively called ‘big head’ or ‘big business’ have put themselves in authority (Saturn) and have been enjoying most of the nourishing benefits (Cancer) for themselves. Saturn is a planet where integrity is rewarded, but all too often this is not the case…

In many cases ‘big head’ have both literally and metaphorically left other more vulnerable parties out in the cold to ‘starve’, just like in the story of the Birdman contest towards the end, in which all manner of shenanigans were employed to stay on top, enjoying the privileges, not missing out of what can be gained by getting one over on another. This article looks at the kind of activism associated with MakeMake’s story, in light of the stories in the discovery chart, and the seven year Yod in the sky from 2022 - 2028, and what this might entail…

Activism and Advocacy of Rights in Astrology :

Image: Fist via Wikimedia Commons.

According to Wikipedia, activism (or Advocacy) consists of efforts to promote, impede, direct or intervene in social, political, economic or environmental reform with the desire to make changes in society toward a perceived greater good. The history of the word activism traces back to earlier understandings of collective behaviour and social action. As late as 1969 activism was defined as "the policy or practice of doing things with decision and energy", without regard to a political signification, whereas social action was defined as "organised action taken by a group to improve social conditions", without regard to normative status.

The foundations of the global human rights movement, for example, involve resistance to colonialism, imperialism, slavery, racism, segregation, patriarchy, and oppression of indigenous peoples; these things have been part of the human experience for ages.

It is one group deliberately devaluing and disadvantaging another, and being smug about being able to get one over on the other…

"Activists employ many different methods, or tactics, in pursuit of their goals. The tactics chosen are significant because they can determine how activists are perceived and what they are capable of accomplishing. For example, nonviolent tactics generally tend to garner more public sympathy than violent ones and are more than twice as effective in achieving stated goals. Historically, most activism has focused on creating substantive changes in the policy or practice of a government or industry. Some activists try to persuade people to change their behavior directly, rather than to persuade governments to change laws. For example, the cooperative movement seeks to build new institutions which conform to cooperative principles, and generally does not lobby or protest politically. Other activists try to persuade people or government policy to remain the same, in an effort to counter change."

According to Wikipedia, there are entities who are part of an activism industry, where it is done as part of an organisation’s core business, like a non-profit or non-governmental organisation, with specific aims and objectives in mind. They lobby and influence government decisions as a specialty, and even have designated staff with tactics for lobbying purposes. These are the organisations who, up to now, have gained their successes through influence, vast funding, and position of power, and squashing all who dares to oppose their objectives.

In the United States, lobbying is regulated by the federal government, and multiple documentaries have been made, showing the revolving door to privilege, with the same swindling dynamics and metaphors of how it is laid out in the story of Rapa Nui’s societal decline…

It’s a brutal industry with often militant tactics of covert attack on opposition. Deliberate upheaval to culture a downfall through chaos. Staging a defeat.

According to Wikipedia, activism is not an activity always performed by those who profess activism as a profession. The term may apply broadly to anyone who engages in activism, or narrowly limited to those who choose political or social activism as a vocation or characteristic practice.

Astrological Grouping of Activism amongst the trans-Neptunian objects

There are various types of activism. Astrologically speaking, they are generally grouped as laid out below, although they can overlap and interrelate. Don’t be too strict with boundaries, but feel into the energies and the dynamics behind each dwarf planet as they connect to their aboriginal mythologies and stories. They all carry themes of: what is the right thing to do?

Eris

Human rights activism, religious activism, libertarian activism, social movements like women’s rights, civil rights, racial equality, disability rights, exploitation of workers, whistleblowing.

MakeMake

Environmental activism, environmentally friendly policies, climate change, Activism for regenerative farming and biological farming. Sustainable farming and diversity. Ecology movement, conservation, and green politics (carbon tax, eco-tariff, eco-tax).

Sedna

Animal rights activism, economic activism, climate justice, watchdogs, ethical consumerism, anti-globalisation.

Haumea

Haumea is more about the activism of the love of nature and human nature. Advocating for those who make wise choices, due to divine connectedness, that honours pono, kuleana and genuine aloha. Haumea is about abundant food supply for all, preservation of nature’s beauty, and birthing new systems that support life with ease.

A Climate of Change 2022 - 2028

A Yod is in the astrological sky stirring all the outer planets that are in the 29th crisis degree of their respective signs, for massive change. The main Yod will consist of Sedna sextile Neptune with Haumea at the apex. The signatures and dynamics of this Yod is described in detail in the online course Foundations of Change. Below is the ingress chart that coincided with the once in a thousand year Venus, Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces conjunction. Imagine a Yod in the astrological sky for seven years! It is unheard off, yet it is happening now.

The course Foundations of Change describes in detail the complex dynamics and dance of the seven year Yod, but in essence the most important planet in a Yod is the one on the apex, which is Haumea.

All of the outer planets will manoeuvre through the same degrees, and through the 29th degrees of their respective signs between 2021 - 2026. This entails massive change unlike mankind has ever seen.

Clearly the many kind of activisms that may be found on planet Earth have made inroads to create change, but nothing is going to bring the scale of change that we are currently seeing underway. Haumea is about the love of nature, and also human nature. It is in our nature to be loving, kind, generous and giving. Yes, there are many reasons for people to become bitter and resentful, but this entire website writes about ALCHEMY and being a metaphysician and how dire situations can be turned into gold. The dynamics of the Yod is very powerful. One leg of the Yod, Neptune in Pisces represents all the sensitive people who have been left at a disadvantage. Perhaps they were unable to work many hours and struggled to make ends meet to feed their family and keep a roof over their heads. These are the most vulnerable people in society, because super-rich exploiters have often kept them at minimum wage in slave jobs, for their benefit. The other leg of the Yod is Sedna in Taurus. This energy also represents sensitive and vulnerable individuals whose value may have been overlooked and further devalued and desecrated, like small-scale farmers, paid a pittance for their valuable produce and disadvantaged by market forces that drives them into debt etc. These are the main two legs of the seven year Yod with Haumea at the apex.

Astrologer Pam Gregory has already demonstrated how in history, Uranus in Taurus has been associated with extreme dry heat (MakeMake in Libra currently squares Quaoar in Capricorn, making a Hammer of Thor apex on Uranus in Taurus.) This pressure on Uranus in Taururs is going to require that farmers make their livelihoods more resilient to climate extremes.

The energies at play in the seven year Yod will put the pressure first on Haumea in Libra, but the energy doesn’t have great momentum there. After Haumea had traversed into Scorpio in 2024, the energy of this Yod may start to express powerfully, in a focussed, potent way...

Change is here, and old-skool activism may no longer influence in the way it used to. Politicians and activists go on about resistance to climate change, but there is a climate of change underway none the less…

Chiron is in Aries and is the wound caused by selfishness, forcefulness, and putting other’s self-confidence down, for a selfish gain. Chiron will play a vital role to bring change to a head in the next seven years.

There is a new online course about the trans-Neptunian and Kuiper Belt Objects involved in the strange mixed bag of energies we've been having since the start of 2020, with some stretching beyond 2030.

  • The Gonggong Yod is all about the massive chaos caused by floods, too much rain and landslides.

  • The Sedna Yod is about the respect for people, animals and the natural world being violated and betrayed, and how the natural world can come back to bite. When the WHO announced a global health emergency on 31 January 2020, Haumea in Libra was sextile to Ixion in Sagittarius making a Yod apex on Sedna and malefic fixed star Algol.

  • The Varuna Yod is about sacred law and order, justice and truth in the cosmos that needs to return.

  • The Haumea Yod is about the wild abundance and providence of nature that can be created when appropriate governmental structures support benevolence for all.

  • The MakeMake square Quaoar aspect is about is about the smite that the Hammer of Thor apex makes in Taurus smiting things Taurus, perhaps into oblivion. Curiously, both this Hammer apex and the Sedna Yod makes apexes in Taurus, which is the sign of the bull. Together they are creating massive upset and change in agriculture, the natural world, earth matters, and with cattle; with the recent threat of foot and mouth disease in Australia a great example of the manifestation of this energy. Go to courses for more information.

Learn more about the four Yods pictured below and the bigger picture by going to courses.

If you study the information in the Foundations of Change course, you will understand that some antagonists will rise to counter this change, but the energy is so dynamic, with many powerful solar and lunar eclipses at play and other powerful wildcard energies that promise change.

In the big picture, there will be jostling of many energies, but if each human being stays on course to allow themselves INNER change, and INNER transformation as the energies ask of us, it has potential to be a glorious change.

MakeMake is not permanently part of the seven year Haumea Yod, but do play a role from time to time, as the energy is triggered by multiple eclipses, and in wide opposition to Neptune. The incidents show that it is priority to be in the natural flow of one’s own divine energy, and the concept of natural law; that each human being need to find integrity and moral compass within themselves first, and perhaps even go beyond the limitations of the mind, before they can be in leadership of their brethren.

The mind has been the centre of the human’s identification, and this is what is changing. The mind’s hypnotic force is trying to hold on, while it is also slipping away, so that the human may find their true Self; soul connectedness as a divine being having a human experience.

Food Inc. Documentary

Food Inc. is a 2008 documentary that reportedly explains how the USDA and FDA are having revolving doors with executives from the food industry who put profit above people, animals and the environment.

It's a documentary about a system skewed toward unhealthy food, while the large-scale food production systems are having detrimental effects on the environment as well. Much like in Rapa Nui, in which the loss of trees may have resulted in the fertile topsoil of the fields being washed away by torrential rains, so the planting of vast fields of monocultures of corn, wheat etc. being heavily heavily tilled and sprayed with agrochemicals that may harm the soil fertility over time, harms... This way of farming have been encouraged by politicians and industries, despite it having been found detrimental, and that there are more environmentally friendly alternatives, that increase soil fertility, biodiversity and the nutrient-density of produce.
