Haumea’s story is from Hawaiian origin. Haumea is the Goddess of Creation, Nature, Fertility, Birth, War, Strategy, and Government in Astrology.

In this article, I want to explore a few of the most dedicated, enthusiastic and influential leaders the environmental movement has known, and what the understanding of Haumea’s mythology might mean for them, due to the configurations in their birth chart.

Haumea Examples:

Here is a list that is explored through their natal potential:

  • David R. Brower,

  • Sir David Attenborough,

  • Carl Jung,

  • Greta Thunberg,

  • Jane Goodall,

  • Russel Means,

  • Robert Redford,

  • Rachel McAdams,

  • HRH Prince Charles,

  • David Suzuki,

  • Steve Irwin,

  • Gaylord Nelson,

  • James Lovelock,

  • James Muir,

  • Vandana Shiva.

In previous articles, we looked at Haumea’s mythology first, and how the earth mother laid foundations to become a leader in her community. And how her sacred knowledge and wisdom were taught in Hawaiian temples, also dedicated to women’s business like knowledge of childbirth, and ancestral knowledge in general...

Higher Expression and Lower Expression Haumea in Astrology

It is the truth, a force of nature that expresses itself through me—I am only a channel—I can imagine in many instances where I would become sinister to you.
For instance, if life had led you to take up an artificial attitude, then you wouldn’t be able to stand me, because I am a natural being.
By my very presence I crystallize; I am a ferment.
The unconscious of people who live in an artificial manner senses me as a danger.
Everything about me irritates them, my way of speaking, my way of laughing.
They sense nature.
— C.G. (Carl) Jung, psyciatrist

Higher expression Haumea is about having your heart in the right place, believing in yourself as divinity, and what matters to you. It is about your deepest values, that come from your inner landscape. This brings about a natural confidence in Self, and the ability to create with ease.

In the discovery charts, it is decidedly obvious that Haumea, Eris and Sedna all involve significant issue with being in relation, and the growth opportunity this presents in terms of alchemy.

Also having an innate perennial knowing of right from wrong. They all carry mystical goddess from the underworld themes, which relates to individuals with a strong connection to Source, having a softer approach, and being an appreciator of the natural world; both out there, and within Self…

Haumea has a keen recognition of the human condition and being part of the web of life. In the higher expression, Haumea is the alchemist, turning bad situations into gold. Haumea has a stable foundation, healthy boundaries, and has innovative movement forward.

Lower expression Haumea is being weak willed, closed hearted and letting yourself be led by others. Why? Because you may be confused, lacking in trust in yourself, and feeling disconnected, unable to make good choices. When you are cut off from the wisdom of your heart, without the richness of your feelings and your senses, you may be unable to make good decisions for yourself. Being easily led, this may make you more vulnerable to manipulation and deception. When you allow other people to make your choices for you, it may cause your life to be on a negative trajectory, because the things that matter to the heart are not attended to. It is a state of NOT being in a good head or heart space. It is also the experience of the discord of the heart, because the nudges from within are calling out, but ignored, and these are the uncomfortable sensations in the body that are calling for course correction.

When you feel like you don’t have a handle on your life due to spiritual disconnect, it may cause a mental imbalance, or may cause a mental breakdown.

Haumea lower expression people may be easily controlled because they don’t stand for anything, instead listening to everyone else’s advice and opinions, except for the sound judgement call that comes from within. They are lost, and their life suffers as a result of it. In allowing lack of integrity and weakness of spirit, they may fall into addiction to low vibrational behaviours and emotion. Getting jealous of those who are heart-connected and confident in Self, or attempting to be parasitic in co-dependent relation. Not realising that all the time invested in studying someone, for ways to bring them down, are addictive and low vibrational, and has potential to give them mental illness issues in the future…

Haumea Higher Expression:

This is the dynamic between Haumea higher expression and lower expression; those who heed the wise intuition of an open, healed heart, and a soulful connection to Higher Self, may live a joyful abundant life.

These are the philosophical concepts that honour and understand connection of one to a greater whole, and how some in that whole are so toxic, that it is better to hold strong boundaries against them. Rejecting the bullshit energy in self-preservation…

Haumea Lower Expression:

Those who close the heart down and live by the human ego, implementing control, and low vibrational emotions, thoughts and actions, may carry on in the low vibrational bad choices; that may harm themselves and others through their conquests. Yet they can’t get past early beginnings, have energy blocks that prevent their success, have immature behaviour, and have under developed thoughts and innovations. Their energy is fragmented.

We all have free will to embrace the divine or not, and those who choose not to, and experience the bad fruits of low vibrational living, get enraged at those who shoot to the top with good energy, and high vibes, see Kumuhonoa in Haumea’s story as example. And as a result of their failures and enmeshment with Devil energy, may go on a rampage to pick others apart with their harshness.

Kumuhonoa wanted to disrupt Haumea, Wakea and their community’s peace, because he had no peace inside himself, due to his control, ego, immaturity and pride issues. Kumuhonua was chained to the devil. He could not break free; chained to limited sight of the present and the future, lack of intuition, and being emotionally triggered. Kumuhonoa was metaphorically walking around with a bubble on his head, chained to all the trauma of past relationships, and echoes of unhealed states of being; a continuous reliving and inner turmoil that poisoned his life energy. Being stuck was his conscious choice and preference. Why? Because he refused to be healed from low vibrational indulgence.

Haumea and Why is Pono so Important in Community?

In life, pono stands for righteousness and balance. Pono in Hawaiian means ideas of goodness, and how personal and communal wellbeing, welfare, material prosperity, and shared ideas of wealth interact. It is important that those in positions of authority be heart connected, and not indulge in political pretence, otherwise they will make poor choices, that harms themselves, and others. This is evident in the mythology of Haumea, in antagonistic characters like Kumuhonua.

How those in authority who become corrupt and deny everyone pono, then give rise to those who will follow the heart, and strategise to overthrow the reign of injustice, to replace it with fairness, and restoration of goodness for all.

In Hawaiian, if a person is living pono, it means that they have struck the right balance in their relationships with other things, places, and people in their lives. It also means that they are living with a continuous conscious decision to do right by themselves, by others, and by the world in general.

Essentially, pono is a state of existence that is characterized by integrity and a feeling of contentment when everything is good and right. The idea behind this word and this way of life is that moral behavior leads to happiness for the doer and for everyone around them.

We have a kuleana (responsibility) to take care of the earth.

We each have a heart-felt contribution to make to this world.

Image: Haumea egg via Wikimedia Commons.

Kuleana is taking responsibility to improve ourselves so we can reach our goals and live up to our divine potential.

Haumea endures gracefully with kindness and is ready to take it to the last stand. She is invested in that one last push to make something happen, with all the delights and challenges along the way. Where others may have fallen away, Haumea will take a final stand and will make it all worth while. Haumea energy is about tying up loose ends effortlessly, to follow through, and meet your goals by seeing them through to proper completion. In the higher expression, it is dedication like few other. Haumea’s story about how she became an Akua wahine is a great example. The higher expression of this energy is magical… as explored in the discovery chart article.

The story of how Haumea became the Akua wahine (divine feminine) is rich with symbology of how the potential created in sacred space in the heiau (female temple), allowed her to become a master foundation builder.

Haumea energy in the higher expression can be very Saturnian; she knows how to be a mature, sage steward of the land and its people.

Accepting kuleana (responsibility).

Being committed to solid foundation.

Being very disciplined in achieving pono.

Astrology Charts of Famous Naturalists, Conservationists, Psychologists and Environmentalists:

I see Haumea strong in the chart of people with an overwhelming and profound love of nature first and foremost.

There are many environmental activists who do not have Haumea strong in the chart (rather MakeMake and others). Naturalists and conservationists are the individuals who help promote, speak to, and educate the general public about the need for untouched wilderness.

People with Haumea strong in their charts, either by natal potential, transit or progression of personal planets conjunct Haumea, find them with similar themes as discussed in the Haumea Blog.

These are the innovative people who run into the stoic faces of the political and legislative establishment and their often corrupt, environmentally-unfriendly ways, that run good things into the ground, denying pono… denying kuleana…

Exploring Haumea in the Astrology Chart:

The objective is to understand and establish the link between Haumea in Hawaiian mythology, Haumea the dwarf planet in astronomy, and Haumea in astrology, and how she influences those with her prominent in their charts.

And those who desire to learn to understand the astrological significance of Haumea in their lives, may want to utilise this information, to figure it out… If they have a desire to advocate for, or escalate some environmental concern close to their heart, the studying of Haumea’s mythology might provide for some insight into their own journey. I personally believe in the power of prayer, to ask for ‘supernatural’ divine, benevolent assistance, whatever you may decide for that to be. There is potency in being a person of faith, and learning that you can rely on providence and divine assistance, when

you have pure intentions for it to benefit all.

We often see those involved in the environmental movement turn their attention to sharing the knowledge they had acquired, or teaching awareness to others in some format. Somewhat like Haumea did in the sacred space of the temple, a place where women taught generational knowledge and wisdom, and to create sacred space for manifestation.

May this information bless the life of the sincere astrological student and wisdom seeker.

The list and information below shows how diverse a strong Haumea in astrology can present in a person’s chart.

Earth Mothers and Earth Angels:

Image: David Attenborough via Wikimedia Commons. Attribution: Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website – www.dfat.gov.au

Sir David Attenborough:

BBC’s Sir David is an English broadcaster and naturalist, widely respected and known as the face and voice of natural history documentaries in a career that has endured for 60 years.

Even though his earlier work focused more on the wonders of the natural world, his later work has been more vocal in support of environmental causes. He has advocated for restoring planetary biodiversity, limiting population growth, switching to renewable energy, mitigating climate change, reducing meat consumption, and setting aside more areas for natural preservation. The astrological signatures in the form of synchronicities in his chart is astonishing…

According to this information from Astro.com, David has Haumea at 27 degrees Cancer conjunct his South Node. The South Node in Cancer shows where David is comfortable and at ease in life, and what comes naturally. Haumea is also part of a Water Trine with Saturn at 23 degrees Scorpio and Uranus at 28 degrees Pisces. David has Eris at 0 degrees Aries smack bang in the middle of a conjunction with his Venus, Moon and Uranus, which is part of the Water Trine. David’s MakeMake sits at 23 Gemini making a trine to Jupiter at 24 Aquarius.

David also has Hygiea conjunct his South Node. Hygiea signifies being health conscious, the benefits of purification and being concerned with pristine environments, administering sound judgement by preserving the balance of the delicate flora and fauna within the body and mind, or the environment and the earth. Wow, this may explains why David is such a charismatic, larger than life man at the sage age of 95 years old.

Being this passionate about the natural world comes very easy and natural for David. He is clearly in his element.

David Attenborough is as authentic and genuine as they come.

These people were exploring an aspect of Nature that they found within themselves. Logically they might partake of strong Haumea to the extent that they were philosophers, and the explorers of the human condition.
— Henry Seltzer, astrologer on Haumea

Image: Carl Gustav Jung via Wikimedia Commons.

Carl Jung:

Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Carl Jung has an astonishing chart, and it is easy to see why all that pressure on Haumea/Moon/Pluto pressured him into exploring his inner landscape, and then utilising it in a powerful, soul intent way.

According to AstroWiki, in 1912, Jung and Freud they went their separate ways and Jung developed his own psychological model, called analytical psychology. Jung considered the collective unconscious to be an important motivating force behind much of human behaviour.

Jung's theory of the four basic personality types (thinking, feeling, sensing, intuiting) was presumably taken from the four Elements and Temperaments of traditional astrology (air/ sanguine, water/ phlegmatic, earth/ melancholic, and fire/ choleric). Possibly the most widespread application of Jung's theories is through the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment developed during the Second World War. This psychometric questionnaire is designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. Many of Jung's personality descriptions, such as introvert and extrovert routinely appear in astrological delineations.

An often cited quotation from Jung is: modern astrology is moving closer and closer towards psychology and can already be heard knocking at the gates of universities.

Also, Jung was struck by observing the simultaneity of very similar events that seemed more meaningful than mere coincidence. His concept of synchronicity was adopted by psychological astrologers to link planetary movements and human affairs. Synchronicity occurs both at the level of objective events, and also within the subjective mind making sense of events.

According to Astro.com and other ephemeres, Carl Jung’s Haumea was at 20 degrees Taurus, conjunct his Moon and Pluto. This natal Haumea and its cluster, is at the apex receiving point of a Yod from Mars and Jupiter. The cluster was also at the apex of a t-square from Saturn and Ceres/Uranus. His MakeMake at 9 degrees Aries was conjunct his North Node of Fate.

David R. Brower:

David was an American activist, ecologist and conservationist, director of The Sierra Club and founder of Friends of the Earth. David is considered by many to be the pioneer or father of the modern environmental movement. Eighty-eight years of courageous, contentious, and joyful activism made Brower one of the most successful advocates the Earth has ever known.

In his chart, Haumea conjuncts his Sun and Venus in Cancer and his life has many Haumea themes in it; he worked on innovative projects regarding ecology and social justice, started multiple organisations, led grassroots movement, campaigned and successfully lobbied government. Collectively his work is a reminder to future generations about the precious nature of the planet.

According to Astro.com and from information from various other Ephemeres, David has Haumea at 14 degrees Cancer conjunct his Sun and Venus at 8/9 Cancer. This cluster is square the Nodes of Fate. David’s MakeMake is at 7 degrees Gemini exactly opposed Jupiter at 7 degrees Sagittarius. Quaoar is at 21 degrees Leo conjunct his natal Mars. Sedna is at 14 degrees Aries conjunct his North Node 17 degrees Aries. Clearly he is a man that cares for the environment; it was part of his destiny potential.

Image: Greta Thunberg via Wikimedia Commons.

Greta Thunberg:

Greta is a now 19 year old Swedish environmental activist who is internationally known for challenging world leaders to take immediate action against climate change.

She initially gained notice for her youth and her straightforward speaking manner, both in public and to political leaders and assemblies, in which she criticises world leaders for their failure to take what she considers sufficient action to address the climate crisis.

According to Astro.com and others, Greta the young activist has a powerful Yod with Eris at 19 degrees Aries at the apex. Eris receives great stress fro MakeMake at 19 degrees Virgo and Mars at 21 degrees Scorpio. Greta’s Haumea is at 10 degrees Libra widely opposes Eris the stress point. Some astrologers call this a boomerang Yod, where the stress of the apex planet is greatly activated by the opposing planet when it receives transits or progressions. We don’t have Greta’s time of birth, but it is possible that there is another Yod in her chart with Saturn at the apex. She’s clearly very angry at the establishment (Saturn), and from her chart it it easy to see why see feels an inner calling (Haumea) to environmental activism (Make Make). To take action (Mars) and speak up against abuse of power (Eris).

Julia Butterfly Hill:

Image: Julia Butterfly Hill via Wikimedia Commons.

Environmental activist and author Julia Butterfly Hill captured the world's attention when her record-setting tree-sit to save a thousand-year-old redwood named Luna from destruction. By literally living in it, for 738 days…

Julia began her vigil to save the northern California redwood named Luna on December 10, 1997 when she was twenty-one. She resolved to remain on a seven-foot platform constructed for her tree-sit—one hundred and eighty feet above the ground—until Pacific Lumber/Maxxam Corporation promised to save the thousand-year-old tree from destruction. Hill's feet did not touch the ground for 738 days, until December 18, 1999, when Pacific Lumber and Hill reached an agreement to preserve both Luna and a two-acre buffer zone around it. Hill recorded her impressions in a diary, which has become the basis of her book, Legacy of Luna. She was a motivational speaker and involved as ad advisor for many years.

According to this chart and others, Julia’s Haumea sits at 12 degrees Virgo and is opposed to Mercury in Pisces, making a t-square to Neptune in Sagittarius. Eris is at 12 degrees Aries inconjunct Haumea.

According to Wikipedia, Julia experienced a harrowing injury to the head in a near-fatal car crash more than a year before she first climbed the tree. It took intensive therapy to regain the ability to speak and walk normally again. She says that this incident was a wake up call to walk away from a materialism-focussed life, and change. She writes on her website that two weeks after being released from the doctors, her self-discovery started. Her spirit felt drawn to the redwood forest where she dropped on her knees and weeped, “overwhelmed by the wisdom, energy and spirituality housed in this holiest of temples”.

When Julia first ascended the tree, transiting north node was conjunct her Haumea and when she finally descended Pluto and Mercury was conjunct her Neptune at the apex of the t-square. In an April 2009 interview, she described herself as a person committed to growth; that’s Haumea energy.

Image: Jane Goodall via Wikimedia Commons.

Jane Goodall:

Jane Goodall is an English world-renowned primatologist, conservationist, and humanitarian.

She was interested in animal behaviour from a young age, and is best known for her 60 year study of social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees. It is in Tanzania that she witnessed their human-like behaviours, like armed conflict.

In her chart, it is clear that she is comfortable being a witness to the animal’s behaviour, accepting them for who and what they are, as an observer. Her chart shows genuine interest and concern for nature and the nature of primates. Understanding them, may have been entree for her to help them; being able to correct a number of misunderstanding about them, and their unrecognised complex and highly developed social behaviours. In one of her books titled In the Shadow of Man, she demonstrates detailed accounts of their complicated social hierarchy and extraordinary behaviours. With that Eris and Haumea on her IC, I cannot help but see that in Jane helping man see the connection to, and nature of a close biological relative - the primate - she helps mankind see and accept their own primal nature. There are many Haumea themes in her work, as she absorbingly and authentically looks into that eighth house Haumea, along with Pluto. Jane sees deeply… and her eyes and demeanour shows that she carries great wisdom and understanding.

According to Astro.com and other resources, Jane’s natal Haumea is at 5 degrees Leo. Haumea is also part of a Grand Fire trine with her Moon at 3 degrees Sagittarius and Eris at 2 degrees Aries. Eris is also conjunct her IC. This is the free flowing fire energy that feeds both her Ascendant and her IC and the planets around these points. Sedna is at 17 degrees Aries conjunct her Mars and Sun. Hygeia is at 17 degrees Aquarius conjunct her North Node of Fate.

Image: Russell Means via Wikimedia Commons.

Russell Means:

Russell was certainly a man of many talents having been an activist and warrior, for the rights of Native Americans, libertarian political activist, actor, musician, and writer.

Russell Means was an Oglala Lakota activist, and from an outsider’s point of view, it seems that there are great similarities between Russels’s work in his community, and Haumea the akua wahine’s work in her community. Russell also stood up as a leader on behalf of his American Indian community, who had been marginalised in various ways by those in authority, and was seen by the public in that capacity (Haumea on MC). According to Wikimedia Commons, it was said that Russell "spent a lifetime as a modern American Indian warrior ... , railed against broken treaties, fought for the return of stolen land and even took up arms against the federal government ... , called national attention to the plight of impoverished tribes and often lamented the waning of Indian culture." Among the tributes was one writer's belief that "his face should have been on Mt. Rushmore." The New York Times said Means "became as well-known a Native American as Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse."

According to Astro.com and other sources, Russel had Haumea at 12 degrees Leo conjunct his MC at 11 degrees Leo. Sedna at 19 degrees Aries was conjunct his South Node. His Eris at 3 degrees Aries was part of a Grand Water Trine with Pluto, Jupiter and Venus.

Robert Redford:

Image: Robert Redford via Wikimedia Commons.

According to Wikipedia, veteran actor Robert Redford, supports environmentalism, Native American rights, sustainability education, among other things...

As an avid environmentalist, Redford is a trustee of the Natural Resources Defense Council, and being a trustee of Pitzer College, has led to the creation of the Robert Redford Conservancy for Southern California Sustainability at Pitzer College. The Redford Conservancy educates the next generation of students to create solutions for the most challenging and urgent sustainability problems.

According to Astro.com and others, Robert’s Haumea at 9 degees Leo is conjunct his Mars. Eris is conjunct his Ascendant squaring the nodes. Hygiea at 1 degree Cancer and MakeMake at 6 degrees Cancer is conjunct is IC and South Node.

Image: Rachel McAdams via Wikimedia Commons.

Rachel McAdams:

According to Wikipedia, famous actress Rachel is an environmentalist and involved in a large variety of philanthropic endeavours or causes; as a volunteer, promoter or supporter.

Rachel ran an eco-friendly lifestyle website, GreenIsSexy.org, with two of her friends for five years from 2007 to 2011. Her house is powered by Bullfrog renewable energy. She travels around Toronto by bicycle and does not own a car, but drives when in Los Angeles because it is "a harder town to cycle in".

According to Astrotheme and other sources, Rachel’s Haumea is at 17 degrees Virgo conjunct Saturn and the North Node. MakeMake is at 23 degrees Leo in her 10th house. Sedna is at 5 degrees Taurus conjunct her DC and Chiron.

Prince Charles:

Image: Prince Charles via Wikimedia Commons.

It is quite obvious that HRH Prince Charles supports sustainable, regenerative farming and food sovereignty, and those in the ethical food movement greatly appreciate him advocating for sustainable small scale farming.

Prince Charles advocates that small-scale farms “have a huge rule in our sustainable future” and has called for small family farmers in the UK and across the world to come together in a cooperative movement, to produce food based on high environmental standards. Regenerative farming and pasture-based livestock farming, for example, works to restore the natural cycles of nature, like nutrient cycling, which is increasing the right set of soil microbes in the soil, to increase the nutrient density of the food, wether that is the grass that cattle eat, or the nutrient-dense organic food that humans consume. In the UK for example, pioneering ethical farming by small-scale farmers are growing in leaps and bounds. Ethical consumers are backing these farmers in growing numbers. Farming in the UK is undergoing a massive transition due to Brexit, and cheap food imports. The annual Oxford Real Farming Conference is a great example of food produced in an environmentally friendly way being celebrated and supported. Organisations like the National Farmers Union (NFU) are doing incredible work in this field.

According to Astro.com and others, HRH Prince Charles has Haumea at 21 Leo Conjunct Pluto in his first house. His Sedna is at 22 degrees Aries conjunct his MC in the 10th house.

Image: David Suzuki via Wikimedia Commons.

David Suzuki:

According to Wikipedia, David is a Canadian academic, science broadcaster, and environmental activist.

Since the mid-1970s, David Suzuki has been known for his television and radio series, documentaries and books about nature and the environment. He is best known as host and narrator of the popular and long-running CBC Television science program The Nature of Things, seen in over 40 countries. He is also well known for criticising governments for their lack of action to protect the environment.

David earned a Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Chicago in 1961, and was a professor in the genetics department at the University of British Columbia from 1963 until his retirement in 2001. David has a voracious mind for studying science. Even though he is currently 85 years old, he has been awarded a Doctor of Science at the University of Alberta as recently as 2018.

Suzuki co-founded the David Suzuki Foundation in 1990, to work "to find ways for society to live in balance with the natural world that does sustain us. "The Foundation's priorities are: oceans and sustainable fishing, climate change and clean energy, sustainability, and Suzuki's Nature Challenge.”

David Suzuki has a staggering amount of Haumea themes in his life, like his love for genetics, speaking on caution regarding genetically modified food, promoting environmentalism, as well as his work in the civil liberties environment.

In 2004, Suzuki ranked fifth on the list of final nominees in a CBC Television series that asked viewers to select The Greatest Canadian of all time.

According to Astrotheme and other sources, David had Haumea at 7 degrees Leo at the apex of a Yod from Venus in Pisces and his North Node of Fate. Eris at 3 degrees Aries is conjunct his Sun at 4 degrees Aries. His MakeMake at 4 degrees Cancer is conjunct his South Node.

Steve Irwin:

Image: Steve Irwin via Wikimedia Commons.

According to Wikipedia, the man nicknamed "The Crocodile Hunter", was an Australian zookeeper, conservationist, television personality, wildlife expert and environmentalist.

Steve grew up around crocodiles and other reptiles and was educated on them by his father Bob. He achieved worldwide fame from the television series The Crocodile Hunter (1996–2007), an internationally broadcast wildlife documentary series that he co-hosted with his wife Terri, which led to many similar adventures.

Under his leadership many conservation and animal rescue projects were birthed. His wild activities resembles what we know as Haumea energy, that abundantly birthed new ideas and creations; represented by Steve’s Haumea conjunct Uranus, Pluto and the MC.

Haumea’s quantum creativity infused with Uranus is palpable in Steve’s life. Some thought him to be a crazy kook, yet he was genius expression of authentic self. Steve was a great example of Haumea energy.

During his short time on earth, Steve accomplished great things as a highly authentic, passionate conservationist. Steve believed in promoting environmentalism by sharing his excitement about the natural world, rather than preaching to people. He was concerned with conservation of endangered animals and land clearing leading to loss of habitat. He considered conservation to be the most important part of his work: "I consider myself a wildlife warrior. My mission is to save the world's endangered species."

Steve has created a great legacy that is continued by his family, friends, employees, and supporters to this very day. Crikey! was one of his favourite expressions. The astrological signatures in his chart are extremely canny.

According to Astro.com and other resources, Steve’s Haumea was at 1 degrees Virgo conjunct Uranus, Pluto and the MC. Haumea is exactly opposed to his Sun.

Image: Gaylord Nelson via Wikimedia Commons.

Gaylord Nelson:

According to WikiPedia, Gaylord was an American politician and environmentalist from Wisconsin who served as a United States Senator and governor. He was a member of the Democratic Party and the founder of Earth Day, which launched a new wave of environmental activism.

After Nelson's 1980. defeat for re-election, he became counselor for The Wilderness Society in January 1981. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in September 1995 in recognition of his environmental work. The Gaylord Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies (or Nelson Institute) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is named after him in recognition of his love for nature. In addition, the Gaylord Nelson Wilderness in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore –comprising more than 80% of the land area of the park – was named after him in honor of his efforts to have the park created. Governor Nelson State Park near Waunakee, Wisconsin, is also named after him.

According to this source and others, Gaylord had Haumea at 17 degrees Cancer conjunct Venus and Saturn. His Eris at 29 degrees Pisces was conjunct his Chiron. MakeMake at 11 degrees Gemini was conjunct his Sun and Mercury.

James Lovelock:

Image: James Lovelock, via Wikimedia Commons.

According to Wikipedia, James Lovelock is a British independent scientist, environmentalist and futurist. He is best known for proposing the Gaia hypothesis, which postulates that the Earth functions as a self-regulating system.

According to Wikipedia, James thinks the time is past for sustainable development, and that we have come to a time when development is no longer sustainable. Therefore, we need to retreat. Lovelock states the following in order to explain the concept: Retreat, in his view, means it's time to start talking about changing where we live and how we get our food; about making plans for the migration of millions of people from low-lying regions like Bangladesh into Europe; about admitting that New Orleans is a goner and moving the people to cities better positioned for the future. Most of all, he says, it's about everybody "absolutely doing their utmost to sustain civilization, so that it doesn't degenerate into Dark Ages, with warlords running things, which is a real danger. We could lose everything that way."

Sustainable retreat is a concept developed by James Lovelock in order to define the necessary changes to human settlement and dwelling at the global scale with the purpose of adapting to global warming and preventing its expected negative consequences on humans.

According to Astro.com and other sources, Haumea is at 22 degrees Cancer conjunct the natal Moon at 23 degrees Cancer. Eris is at 29 degrees Pisces trine Jupiter at 28 degrees Cancer, trine the North Node. This is a Grand Water Trine.

A Karmic Yod with Haumea on Apex 2024+

There will be a Yod, with Sedna in Taurus and Neptune in Pisces making inconjunct / quincunx aspects to Haumea in Scorpio at the apex in the astrological sky starting in April 2024.

These will be highly transformative times as the two watery energies of Sedna and Neptune barrel down on Haumea. Planets of the apex of a Yod experience a great deal of stress, and Haumea will be at the receiving end for some time. Haumea will also receive a square from Pluto, amplifying Haumea's many elements regarding regenerative capacity, constant self-renewal and fertility, along with Pluto's role in astrology to transform and regenerate; to achieve personal transformation through evolution.

In addition, from July 2021 - 2026, all of the outer planets will be in the 29th degree for some time, and aspecting each other. Both the event of outer planets lingering in the 29th degree, and Yod energy, is very karmic indeed...

It is going to be important for astrologers and wisdom seekers to understand the energies…

John, who died in 1914, also known as "John of the Mountains" and "Father of the National Parks", was an influential Scottish-American naturalist, author, environmental philosopher, botanist, zoologist, glaciologist, and early advocate for the preservation of wilderness in the United States of America.

According to Wikipedia, his letters, essays, and books describing his adventures in nature, especially in the Sierra Nevada, have been read by millions, possibly aided by Sedna conjunct his Moon and Venus in poetic and imaginative Pisces. His activism helped to preserve the Yosemite Valley and Sequoia National Park, and his example has served as an inspiration for the preservation of many other wilderness areas. The Sierra Club, which he co-founded, is a prominent American conservation organization.John Muir was noted for being an ecological thinker, political spokesman, and religious prophet, whose writings became a personal guide into nature for many people, making his name "almost ubiquitous" in the modern environmental consciousness.

Vandana Shiva:

Dr. Vandana Shiva is a beautiful and generous soul, I have personally read some of her work, in awe… She is an Indian scholar, environmental activist, food sovereignty advocate, ecofeminist and anti-globalisation author.

She has worked to promote biodiversity in agriculture to increase productivity, nutrition, farmer's incomes and it is for this work she was recognised as an 'environmental hero' by Time magazine in 2003.
According to Wikipedia, she has written and spoken extensively about advances in the fields of agriculture and food. Intellectual property rights, biodiversity, biotechnology, bioethics, and genetic engineering are among the fields where Shiva has fought through activist campaigns. She has assisted grassroots organisations of the Green movement in multiple countries with opposition to advances in agricultural development via genetic engineering (GMO). In 1982, she was instrumental in the creation of Navdanya in 1991, a national movement to protect the diversity and integrity of living resources, especially native seed, the promotion of organic farming and fair trade. Navdanya, which translates to "Nine Seeds" or "New Gift", is an initiative to educate farmers of the benefits of maintaining diverse and individualised crops rather than accepting offers from monoculture food producers. The initiative established over 40 seed banks across India to provide regional opportunity for diverse agriculture. In 2004 Vandana started Bija Vidyapeeth, an international college for sustainable living, in collaboration with Schumacher College, UK
