Eris conjunct Saturn and the Alchemical Value of Growing into Maturity and Wisdom

By the times the Eris/Saturn conjunction happens, I hope that people will have made themselves well acquainted with lower expression Eris energy, so they can really start to appreciate Eris higher energy instead. And have worked towards making those good choices, to enjoy the tremendous alchemical potentials and benefits of it.

Eris in Astrology Introduction:
In the many previous articles detailing the psychological progression of Eris in relation, we first see the innocent, inexperienced and pure state of a child, personified in the maiden Persephone/Proserpina/Kore.
She used her negative experience as a catalyst to improve the quality of her life, gain character development, gain her freedom, and elevate.
Persephone’s favourite things are flowers, delighting in their scent, admiring them, collecting them and arranging them with her loyal, and loving friends. She had been in joy, grounded and stable, relishing in her calm, sensual, feeling and sensing nature, highly protected by mother Ceres/Demeter, and on the land everyday. But as the Greek mythological story goes, she experienced sudden sheer terror, being unrightfully snatched away by Pluto. In fright, shock and trauma. Experiencing a tear ripped in the energetic body, leaving her like a deer in headlights, unable to cope. Not functioning; for she was taken into the underworld by a selfish beast. Then having to sit in her sorrowful state, and work herself into overcoming the frightful, visceral experience and utter overwhelm of the underworld. Learning to forgive the injustice and let go of the resentment. Allowing beautiful surrender. And slowly finding her way into healthy feeling and her natural sensing state again. Being able to enjoy her sensual nature again, after a harrowing experience. Handling her adversaries gracefully, yet knowing her worth and being committed to Self.
Becoming like a child again - pure and innocent - yet possessor of dark and frightening wisdom.

In Eris’ discovery chart, Chiron is opposed to Saturn, and they are both on the bendings, which shows that within Eris’ energy, there is already an experience, some understanding, and perhaps some feeling of Saturn’s restrictive energies, burdens and issues around control. Both Eris and Saturn may relate to coldness and harshness in relation and relationship, and learning to endure, overcome and mature… They are both about reaching a wish fulfilment or victory of sorts. Eris higher expression shows, that if you allow healing, forgive and let go, this puts in play that slow Wheel of Fortune, that cause and effect, that karma, that may eventually turn in your favour, bestowing immense blessings. Eris higher expression is divine retribution and divine recompense. Divine justice and divine fairness, where there had been an injustice.

Saturn in the taskmaster and diligent worker of the zodiac, the last planet that is visible to the naked eye. In May 2028 the nodal axis squares Eris.
Heavy energies such as Eris making aspects, and Pluto, Sedna and Haumea in the 29th degrees, will result in chaos in the collective for a few more years, so it is best that we learn to work with them constructively.
Eris and Saturn in Aries Similarities
Surprisingly, both energies deals with a scale of progression, and GREAT polarity on that scale. On one end it is the inexperienced and immature, and on the other, it is those who learn from experience and mature. Both are about learning to implement healthy boundaries, and to be responsible. Both are about judgement; Eris being more of a spiritual judge and being put into spiritual jail, and Saturn, is more about the physical rules, the judge and jail. Eris is not so much about what a person did, but about the underlying energies of what caused them to do what they did. This is the case with Saturn as well, but Saturn operates more on a three dimensional level, where Eris is about the energy and soul wisdom that can be gained, through understanding underlying patterns.
The combination of Eris (Discordia) and Saturn, in the negative expression, has the potential for mayhem, aggression, and arguments galore.
The need for control, and resulting limitation and being stuck, are strong potentials in both energies. Both are prone to experience energetic-blocks, slowed down vibration and evil-spiritedness.
Both energies may hide their emotions far away from their daily life, and in being cut off from the very important feeling nature, may result in bad things indeed…
Saturn in Aries may run into challenges over being hotheaded, impulsive, bossy, and cruel. And with Chiron having just left Aries, when Eris and Saturn first conjunct, tensions and over-sensitivity may still be lingering in the collective, and there may be a need to cool down the fire energy.
Both Eris and Saturn energies relates to justice, cause and effect, and karma for good or bad choices. Both relates to higher Self vs lower self decisions.
Which wolf will you feed? Which one will you allow to grow? And what karma will you reap?
*Everything* is at stake… because in the lower expression, both can be players putting another party at a disadvantage. Having to learn to understand how the dynamics of warfare and trauma-bonding are used as a selfish weapon, that can come back to bite the abuser...
Ultimately, you’re either going to win big or loose big… And the joke is on those who don’t understand the need to take these energies serious… Integrity is *everything* for both Eris and Saturn energies. Those who are able to heed the dynamics of the energies - who had to take the short end of the stick - may find that after ruin or loss, big rewards can emerge from the ashes, for the fair and righteous…
Always remember, that Eris teaches us very valuable lessons in NOT taking revenge, and not playing the victim role when done dirty. If you do decide to take retribution in your own hands, be sure to understand that in interacting with the negative energy, especially during an Eris transit, it will force you into the choice of your Higher Self vs your lower self. Be sure you understand the consequences, BEFORE you indulge in low vibrational folly; for it will lock you in, in a bad lifestyle, where you cannot manifest goodness with ease … It’s highly addictive, and will ruin your life… Don’t indulge and let it produce bad outcomes for you. You have a choice.
Eris transits are times when the masks come off and reveals the lack of heart, utter selfishness and narcissistic behaviour of those who had been impersonating or pretending, who don’t come from a genuine heart space. As well as a propensity that the envious of goodness have; to flip the script, steal from, or take advantage of generous people.
When you come to understand the nature of Eris transits, you will understand the benefit of forgiveness, letting it go, and letting divine retribution handle your case. Ex-associates and ex-friends may think that they get away with their low vibrational emotions, choices and behaviours, but that is not the case… Forgive and let go, so that you may elevate and move up in life.
Eris transits are all about that choice regarding how to go about, when you are abused or treated unjustly:
Will you let go, forgive and elevate into a new life?
Or will you become vengeful and spiteful, perhaps becoming just like your abuser? Unfulfilled and miserable?
Ultimately, it is always a choice between Higher Self and Lower Self, and the consequences of that choice… will be very, very far-reaching.

Eris and Saturn in Aries Differences:
Eris is the Greek name for the Goddess of Discord and Strife. In Roman mythology, her name is Discordia, and war, strife and battle is the negative expression’s nourishment. Many previous articles have described, that once a person starts to actively feed those low vibrational emotions of the lower, ego self, it grows rapidly, until it is like a tower, hovering over the earth, hurtling lava projectiles onto everyone. Saturn is Cronus / Chronos, but there is some contention that Saturn and Cronus are not the same. In Greek Mythology, Cronus was one of the Titans, and the father of Zeus. Cronus ate his own children to prevent himself from being dethroned as the King of the Gods. Being super-ceded was his greatest fear. That is, until his wife, Rhea, tricked him into swallowing a stone when Zeus was born. Zeus got rid of his own father eventually, to take his place. Cronus/Saturn wants law and order, yet will go to unethical practises to force his discipline, rules, regulations, as domination on everyone.
This is the very forceful authority of Saturn, which results in implementing overbearing restrictions, structures and rules, that may cause unfairness, marginalisation and injustice for some.
This triggers discord of the heart and angers Eris/Discordia immensely - for she wants sovereignty, freedom and truth - resulting in escalating insults, strife and raw nerves to be exposed in her.
In a recent video, astrologer Tom Jacobs explains that with Eris, we need to understand the direct correlation that the triggering of insecurity, and the experience of pain, has on the expression of Eris anger.
Eris being reckless, irresponsible, inconsiderate, or immature will aggravate Saturn in turn. The fact that they are both in Aries, is highly inflammatory, as they challenge and catalyse one another. Low vibration Saturn is the selfish tyrant who does not like opposition, therefore oppresses and punishes accordingly. Light a flame and boooooom.
Eris conjunct Saturn can be highly charged in Aries.
Eris is the negative expression rebellion, aggression and arguments that rise to trump what is seen as the abuse of power.
From a certain point of view, Eris conjunct Saturn, is the Eris square Pluto aspects of 2020-2021 all over again.
Why, the reader may ask?
It is because Pluto had been in Capricorn in 2020-2021 when Eris and Pluto squared five exact hits. Saturn is the natural ruler of the zodiac sign Capricorn. There is a natural affiliation. As the energies (Eris and Saturn) conjoin, or enmesh in 2027-2028, they are still individually palpable, and at play with each other.
Devil’s Advocate:
In the lower expression, both want to force another to give up their free will with distortions of truth; to submit themselves to the abuse or domination. In effect making another bow down without consent, by forcing themselves on their target. By being strategic...
Hubris is a dangerous character flaw: the intentional use of violence to humiliate or degrade, and having zero reverence and complete disregard for the divinely fixed limits on human action in an ordered cosmos.

The most-important discussion of hubris in antiquity is by Aristotle in his Rhetoric: “Hubris consists in doing and saying things that cause shame to the victim…simply for the pleasure of it. Retaliation is not hubris, but revenge.…Young men and the rich are hubristic because they think they are better than other people.”
Both Eris and Saturn lower vibration energies can have immense issues with toxicity, forcefulness, devilishness and even taking it to the courts to battle it out until the very last breath. Why? It is because when they don’t face their fears, and they feed the lower self, it grows to immense proportions (like Herakles hitting Eris’ apple), and makes them act out in ways which makes them hate on each other. In other words, Eris and Saturn feed and fuel each other’s insecurities. In Eris’ discovery chart, Saturn features prominently as opposed to Chiron, and square the bendings; they are naturally antagonistic towards each other in the lower vibration.
For both, they need to face their deep seated fears of being abused, or being put in a situation that does not suit them.
By looking at the pain, this offers the potential to turn those behaviours that result from unconscious drivers, into great strengths.
Both Eris and Saturn may have immense issues with selfishness and narcissistic behaviour in the lower expression. Both can be orchestrators of chaos and players, hurting and harming other people.
Both can be ignorant, arrogant and closed-minded, which means there is no room for growth… Hubris.
Both may be involved with mental magic with illusions; to get another to think that they have power over them.
Both can be cruel, harsh, hateful, abusive, demonic and downright evil. Why? Perhaps they are so self-absorbed that they want people around them to settle for the bare minimum, pettiness, sometimes even injustice or abuse. It is because they make bad choices to feed the lower energies, which makes them hate on other people and treat others unfairly.
They may seek to destroy other’s goodness, because they cannot find that pot of gold inside themselves.
Why do players play, bullies bully, and enviers envy?
It’s all about the good energy that another is perceived to have, that they cannot access. Mythology shows how those like Paris and Zeus’s emotional fulfilment depended on screwing others over with bread-crumbing and other tactics.
When you feed only the lower emotions, the lower frequency can keep you so dampened and stuck down there, that you cannot see the bigger picture; that it is not about one, it is about all. When you hurt others, you hurt yourself. When you don’t heal, you hurt others. Until you break the toxic cycle, and heal your self, you won’t experience the higher expression benevolence.
Confidence-theft is the goal for Eris lower expression, but at the expense of staying false and inauthentic themselves while pretending virtue.
Eris and Saturn as Influencers:
Both Eris and Saturn like to be influencers, both positive and negative. And Aries is the sign of the self. They relish in influencing or manipulating others when in lower vibration with distortions of truth.
Eris as an influencer (positive and negative) has already been discussed at length on this website. The dwarf planet Eris was discovered around the same time that social media and mobile devices came onto the scene, forever changing the lives of young people, who were no longer watching what mainstream news and media was feeding them, but being choosy. Following social media influencers of their choice. Allowing any random - but original - online person to influence them. But also, following the calling of their heart, and what resonates, liking and subscribing according to how they feel. In effect, blocking out what does not resonate with them. In effect, blocking unwanted influence, and unwanted energy exchanges.
Yet Eris lower expression people likes to throw bricks and hide their hand, leaving their targets in a mental maze as to what had hit them and caused the devastation; think scammers, identity theft, hackers and social engineering. Saturn on the other hand tend to be more open and obvious about the negative influence he exerts.
Saturn, from a certain point of view, represents the old establishments, who used to control the narrative of everyone, now experiencing losses, and being catalysed into change. Many people are not interested in what mainstream media is selling: the materialism, the fakeness, the emptiness, and the lack of spiritual values, that desecrates the divine Self (Aries).
Ultimately, Eris and Saturn lower expression people will have to come to terms with the fact that at some point, the other people in their life realise: that one sided relationship, may be relationship not worth having… and cutting out the crap.
This is what Persephone ultimately learned after her stay the underworld; don’t try to influence other people, just be your true authentic self, in integrity and in right relation with your Self.

Spiritual Eyes of Discernment relies on inner guidance for wisdom, loyalty, respect and commitment to make good choices, that keeps you in high vibration, and honours others as well. Knowing, that we all have free will, and some exercise that free will for good, which is their choice, for they want to sow and reap genuine goodness.

Eris and Saturn - Opportunities for Soul Growth:
Learn how to make wise choices, don’t try to screw other people over, and don’t indulge in low vibrational emotions, thoughts or actions.

There will come a time when those who were underestimated, taken advantage of, and trampled on, will be admired, for strength of character that is genuine, tested by fire.

Saturn is actually highly prominent in Eris’s discovery chart. Chiron is in the 10th house in Capricorn opposing Saturn, square the bendings (on the Self/Other axis of Aries/Libra) etc. This is the energy of those feel blocked off and who struggle immensely to work for, and enjoy their own rewards on their life path, instead feeling pain when seeing others succeed; feeling the immense insecurity, being challenged by another’s success, and a sense of being a failure, or not good enough, that the configuration illustrates. It’s feeling greatly tested and challenged in life to overcome obstacles, learn life’s lessons and excel. It’s the insecurity issues that is so prominent in Eris energy.
The Sun is also in Capricorn in the 10th house, square Eris and Jupiter. The Sun is here entails shining brightly in the house of public reputation, and public acclaim, for having done the hard work for accolades, gaining the endurance and excellence the right way. It’s also the jealousy of the dilletantes, who want the benefits, but without having done the work. The tenth house is under attack in Eris’s discovery chart, as those who rise as a tall poppy, get cut down by the envious evil eye of those who see them as competitors for top spot.
