The Astrology behind the Lahaina, Maui Wildfires and Uranus in Taurus Hammer of Thor apex

The deadly Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii wildfires that started on Tuesday the 8th of August 2023 has a clearcut astrology. This article is posted in the Quaoar blog, because Quaoar in Capricorn squared MakeMake in Libra, making a Hammer of Thor apex on Uranus in Taurus at 22 degrees. Uranus in Taurus in history has been associated with a drying, hot effect on the land, with extreme wild fires, bush fires, dustbowls, bone-dry vegetation, etc. as the result.

This video, linked below, shows the devastating effects that started with the extreme dry conditions in the area, along with the powerful wind from distant Hurricane Dora churning 800 kilometers off shore. Lahaina is/was a charming little tourist town on the north western coast of Maui, which is located just above the Hawaii big island. This article is meant for astrological study, and should not be interpreted any other way, see the disclaimer.

According to this Wikipedia page, at least 1,000 people are reportedly missing, and at the time of publication about more than 2,200 structures were damaged or destroyed. The death toll from the Maui wildfires is now at 93, making it the deadliest US wildfire in more than a century, with the Hawaii Governor warning that the number of victims could rise "significantly". This video shows footage filmed by a man who stayed in his home until the fires lapped at his house, and he miraculously managed to live to tell the tale and show his videos.

The chart below is dated for 20 July 2023, but it shows the slow moving trans-Neptunian objects MakeMake in Libra and Quaoar in Capricorn involved already in a tigh-ish square (that goes beyond 2030) making a hammering on Uranus in Taurus. Fortunately, Uranus will not stay in Taurus for this long. Uranus will leave Taurus in early 2026, and it will be at the Hammer of Thor apex for a least another two years.

This is some of the astrology that is associated with Climate Change and a climate of change.

It explains why in some parts in the world there are extreme drought and wild fires, with Uranus at the hammer apex, and others are experiencing the massive flooding and landslides which are associated with the Gonggong yod.

If you are wondering why some parts of the world are under immense flash flooding and some parts of the world are under extreme dry heat, look no further than the extremes in the astrology... The Gonggong Yod is currently in effect, which entails the kind of mass flooding disaster that is hard to predict and mitigate, as well as difficulty predicting natural disaster in general. Neptune is also in the last decan of watery home sign Pisces. In this video Astrologer Pam Gregory has demonstrated how in history, Uranus in Taurus has been associated with extreme dry heat (MakeMake in Libra currently squares Quaoar in Capricorn in the 7th degree of their signs, making an exact Hammer of Thor apex on Uranus in Taurus at 22 degrees Taurus.) This pressure on Uranus in Taurus is going to require that farmers make their livelihoods more resilient to climate extremes, as flooding either shifts massive amount of fertile soil off farm, or the extreme dry heat bakes the earth bone dry... This increased resilience is found in methods like REGENERATIVE AND BIOLOGICAL FARMING, as the MakeMake blog demonstrates. MakeMake and Quaoar begs for enlightenment in these matters. Some governments have acted to make ORGANIC FARMING (with carbon sequestration) a priority, however, in many countries industrial agriculture, with the use of industrial practices like excessive land clearing, synthetic fertiliser and other chemicals, has led to the kind of dustbowls seen since Uranus entered Taurus in 2018, because the plant diversity, and the soil carbon content, could not ensure a more resilient growing green protective coverage for the topsoil. See an example of regenerative agriculture, or see the work of Gabe Brown regarding resources to regenerative farming for a sustainable future.

History shows that Yods and Hammer of Thor apexes - especially involving trans-Neptunian objects - receive powerful directional energies that cannot be ignored... The reality and truth entailed shall be visible.

Trans-Neptunian objects like MakeMake and Quauar are very slow moving, and they dance together beyond 2030, as the dates on the charts in the gallery below shows. Click to enlarge.

MakeMake is about leadership of natural resources and how they are managed/mismanaged. Quaoar is associated with the enlightenment found after a perilous life journey. Together they are putting pressure on breakthrough Uranus issues as it pertains to Taurus the bull, which is the land, agriculture, food production, farming, etc.

Lahaina Dry Climate Predisposition?

To the right is an image showing Maui county (in orange) just above big island Hawaii. Lahaina (in red) is situated on the largest island in Maui county. According to this Wikipedia page, the western side coastal area of Lahaina seems to have a natural predisposition towards being somewhat more dry than the rest of main island Maui, as is reflected in its ancient and modern names. “Lele was the original, ancient Hawaiian name of Lahaina and was known for its breadfruit trees. According to legend a bald aliʻi (chief) living in Kauaʻula Valley was walking without a hat and cursed up at the hot sun: He keu hoi keia o ka lā hainā ("What an unmerciful sun"). In ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) the name Lā hainā means "cruel or merciless (hainā) sun (lā)", describing the sunny dry climate.”

This shows that the area had once been covered by plentiful breadfruit trees (from the same genus as fast growing jackfruit trees), which must have provided it plenty of shade, a cooling microclimate with life supporting / preserving ecosystem, thanks to protected soil microbiome, sequestering soil carbon and making the soil fertile and increasing capacity to hold moisture, for the optimal cycle of life.

Modern images and video shows the area around Lahaina town covered in what appears to be grassland or resting farmland… This video looks at the invasive foreign grasses planted in the area for cattle grazing in the 1800s, outcompeting native grasses, that was one of the ingredients of this disaster… A relief map shows that the topography of the island include the low lying coastal area to the west, with a large towering volcanic mountain (crater) in the middle of the top western section. This video shows more visual footage of the landscape, and how the winds drove the fires over the mountains, rushing downhill picking up speed with sparks towards the town of Lahaina.

According to this Wikipedia page, the details around the disaster are complex. It explains that in June 2014, a Hawaii nonprofit organization prepared a Western Maui Community Wildfire Protection Plan with the cooperation of local government agencies, which warned that most of the Lahaina area was at extremely high risk for burning.

Also, that in Maui County's 2020 Hazard Mitigation Plan, the county identified Lahaina, the most heavily impacted community in the August fires, as lying within a high risk zone for wildfire.

Below is a picture of the world famous banyan tree (Ficus benghalensis Indian banyan tree) on front street Lahaina with 16+ major trunks apart of the main trunk. It is the largest Banyan tree in the United states and has great significant value to the local community. It has been badly damaged by the brutal fires, but some experts like this arborist claim that it still contains sap, and therefore, may regenerate.

Uranus in Taurus Today

The reality of Uranus in Taurus, which shows in history to be associated with a hot, drying effect on the land, can result in something as apocalyptic, tragic and horrific as this event in Maui...

On the 15th of August, Uranus enters the 23rd degree of Taurus to be under the tightest conjunction with the direct apex, to retrograde on the 29th.

In the week leading up to the disaster, we have witnessed increased road rage, general frustration and crazy behaviour. What does the astrology say? Uranus in Taurus rules the higher mind and with it currently at the Hammer of Thor apex that MakeMake in Libra square Quaoar in Capricorn makes, people are going somewhat CRAZY.

This is a lot of pressure on Uranus… See the calendar of events on the website for more... When you can work with the energy of Uranus constructively, you can blow off some steam, without blowing your top, and avoid ruining someone else's mental stability or life with reckless behaviour... Let the astrology guide you towards making wise choices, else live with the consequences of bad choices... as the North Node starts to conjunct Eris.

Also, may the town of Lahaina prosper once again in the future, as its remaining citizens, who choose to rebuild, manage and shape their own destiny. May those currently displaced or in trauma, find their peace soon.

Other Astrological Events:

At the writing of this article, the Varuna yod was within orb, with Gonggong conjunct Saturn in Pisces sextile Quaoar in Capricorn. The Gonggong yod is in effect, with MakeMake in Libra sextile Varuna in Leo, making a yod apex on Gonggong conjunct Saturn. The Haumea yod, with Neptune in Pisces sextile Sedna in Gemini, is just outside of the 3 degree orb afforded a yod. The Sedna Yod is also just out of orb. The North Node of Fate has started to conjunct Eris in Aries.

Edit:

Nearly a month after the fires, lawsuits has started to emerge like this one alleging government and landowner failed to address fire risk. Had more people had a more broader understanding of the potential astrological consequences of Uranus in Taurus, this might have been averted. Talking about Climate Change and then expecting people to understand such a vague concept is just not good enough… See the video below:

The video below shows the value of the ‘Ulu breadfruit trees that had been a large feature of Lahaina, as a food forest. Lahaina was once known as Malu 'ulu 'o Lele - The shaded breadfruit groves of Lele.
