Pluto at 29 degrees Capricorn square Nodes of Fate, Pluto Square Haumea, Pluto in Aquarius

On 22-23 March 2023 Pluto made the ingress into a new sign Aquarius for the first time in many years.

A previous article looked at Pluto’s association with Plutonium, atomic power, and quantum energy, and how that relates to Pluto lower and higher expression, as well as soul re-connection, which is a signature of all the trans-Neptunian/Kuiper belt objects.

What can we expect from Pluto Greek lord of the Underworld as it moves in and out of the critical degree of Capricorn, before finally settling into humanitarian and technological sign Aquarius in November 2024?

Highly Transformative Times: Pluto Square the Nodal Axis April - November 2023

From April to November 2023 the Nodal axis is in a t-square with Pluto demanding intense change, transformation and being truthful. In July Pluto squares the Nodes of Fate tightly all month when Pluto had retrograded back into Capricorn, also while the South Node is finishing its sojourn in sign of rulership Scorpio. If you're going to be fake, insincere, make light of being an ass, not own up to the absolute emotional truth, belittle, downplay, or diminish, plot, deceive or scheme with fake smiles... don't approach people, because you may get a smackdown. Buckle up, and look deep at truth, and be honest, for truth sets you free and will get you far... Pluto will be in tight aspect to Sedna and Haumea for many months to come as they dance together for transformation and regeneration. Pluto and Haumea has been, and will be squaring each other for many years to come in tight orb. Haumea (representative of regeneration) will be conjunct the South Node in months to come as the Nodes square Pluto.

Also, the 20 April 2023 Solar eclipse will be square Pluto conjunct the North Node of Fate with the energy in effect about six months before and after. It's potent... It’s a North Node eclipse on the Aries/Libra YOU/ME relationship axis.

PLUTO ASTROLOGICAL GLYPH

Around mid July Pluto square the Nodes exactly at 29 degrees. This is interesting because Pluto square the North Node at 29 degrees Aries will make a Hammer of Thor aspect pattern apex out of trans-Neptunian object Orcus at 13-14 degrees Virgo.

This is the same Orcus that the Eris square Pluto aspect pattern of 2020 made a Hammer apex out of, and smote all into the Underworld for re-evaluation. The Underworld is Lord of the Underworld Pluto’s domain, but it is also Orcus’ domain. It entails revelation and looking deeply at truth, seeing truth, and becoming truth, as both the Pluto blog and Orcus blog have described. It’s the clarity of being detoxified from, and NOT in deceptive, distorted, corruptive, stagnant low vibrational energy.

20 April 2023 Solar Eclipse square the Nodes

Another interesting tidbit, is that Jupiter will conjunct Eris at the upcoming 20 April eclipse that squares Pluto. Eris carries an astonishing amount of Pluto themes in it, which is why people often struggle to differentiate between Eris and Pluto energy. Eris and Pluto energy is also heavily intertwined in relationship. Astrologer Astro Viktor described in this video what had happened the last time Eris and Jupiter were conjunct in April 2011, when Osama Bin Laden got killed. Viktor explains that Eris is the reaction to established authority, that doesn’t want to bow down to that authority.

Saturn will also conjunct trans-Neptunian object Gonggong for the first time, while the Gonggong Yod is within orb as well. This should be interesting to watch… This conjunction starts the activation of the Gonggong Yod with Varuna at 5 degrees Leo, and retrograding Makemake at 8 degrees Libra as Yod legs.

The 20 April 2023 Solar eclipse will be square Pluto conjunct the North Node of Fate with the energy in effect about six months before and after. See the chart below:

Pluto in psychological astrology is the process of deep self understanding and getting in touch with ones deepest and most truthful desires. It’s that holding on to situations, places, people or things that were once serving, but now are toxic. It’s about the attachment that has to be released, and change that has to be allowed.

It’s the stripping away of anything that is not true to authentic Self, that doesn’t hold authentic alignment, and doesn’t serve on the life journey. It’s a stripping down to core essence and feeling more empowered to be and express one’s personal truth. Pluto breaks down the old life, which then leaves room for the new to ignite and regenerate.

Pluto, Haumea and the Nodes of Fate in the Anarectic / Critical degrees

In astrology, Pluto is the planet of intensity, of destruction, transformation and rebirth. It entails releasing and wiping the slate clean, purging the toxicity, and stagnancy. It’s the revelation of corruption as it relates to the sign that it is in. It’s the allowing of change, and purification for revealing of truth. Pluto is the underbelly of deep emotion, manipulation, power struggles, and what lies hidden beneath the surface. Ancient artefacts shows the torches / flame torches that is often seen on ancient Greek artefacts, and represents illumination of truth in the Underworld and self-empowerment. Pluto was named after Hades in Greek mythology, and although it is a small planet, it packs a powerful punch and is larger than life. Pluto rules Scorpio. See the Pluto blog for more on Pluto as it pertains to its discovery chart.

Around 23-24 July 2023 Pluto squares Haumea tightly, and also the Nodes of Fate. They all dance together in tight orb with Sedna as well for change, transformation and regeneration. Sedna also marches into new sign Gemini on 19 June, thus these few months will likely bring epic change. The 29th degree is also called the Anarectic or Critical degree of the zodiac.

From July 2021 - 2026 all of the outer planets will be in the 29th degree for some time, and aspecting each other around the same time, which is rare… There are also four yods making a five pointed star in the astrological sky.

This was described and laid out in the Pentagram of Change online course.

When the planets are at the final degree of a zodiac sign, it’s called an anarectic-, crucial-, critical degree, or “degree of fate”. And when they are slow moving outer planets, the issues at play take a collective ‘desperate expression’ to solve the crises at hand. There is this feeling of urgency with 29 degree planets, as if time is running out. To mature. To make it. It’s the peak in completing an important phase in the human collective, before switching to the next sign. These are highly transformative times.

Astrologers call this degree ‘anaretic’, meaning it has an accumulative effect from having almost completed the passing through of one sign.

This degree has intensity and high sensitivity, because it marks the end of a zodiac sign, a final experience that tests if we have come to our senses.

It’s as though the collective is hastily making sure that we have digested all the qualities of the sign, before leaping into the next.

The 29th degree of the zodiac can be very volatile and prone to sudden reversals and crises. That's why the 29th degree is known as a critical degree. It is an evolutionary indication of the collective’s progress, or a massive psychological shift, which may include reversal of fortune, endings, or a culmination point of sorts. This degree represents the end of a cycle. It is focused on change and finishing its journey in one state of being.

Yet this degree is also very futuristic, as some astrologers say it makes us more receptive to our unconscious, and more psychically aware, to new potentials, as we are faced with the crises of the old.

According to this website, we can also imagine the final degree as a door between two rooms; while we are going through it, our perception of the environment is limited. We may not be as agile as we would be if we had to focus on one room at a time. Planets at the anaretic degree are in the process of shifting into the next zodiac sign, and they have to focus on the new, not what they left behind. It’s the potential for the human collective to make better choices, and opening to new states of being, due to recognising how we can do better. The planets who are visiting the anarectic degree are all slow moving.

Pluto entered the 29th degree Capricorn in February 2023 and will leave it in November 2024 for a permanent stay in Aquarius for the next 20 years.

It wouldn’t be wrong to define 29° as the “test degree” or “the degree of mastery”, “the gift”.

Anaretic degree and Nodes have similarities, both of them are related with fate, there will be situations to be examined, solved and win through. If the person does not learn what he has to learn, he will definitely experience some sort of crisis; but if he has, he will continue from this “peak” and accomplish a fateful mission. Therefore, just like the difficulties and patterns start to resolve easier in our lives, when we fully understand and continue our path through our North Nodes; the planets, cusps, and even asteroids in 29° are the indicators of where the “change” and the “transformation” will occur in our lives.

Karmic Completion in Capricorn: Clout, Status, Reputation, Power, Leadership, Institution, Social Credit and Political Standing

Pluto in the 29th degree will be the peak in completing an important phase in the human collective, (before switching to the next sign of Aquarius) which relates to Pluto’s unconscious biases and power-hunger behaviours, and achieving a transformation of abuse of power of those Capricorn establishments. Pluto in Capricorn has a hidden urge to survive and dominate at all cost. It’s about the seedy underbelly of hierarchy, rules, regulations, corporations, governments, institutions, etc. For the sake of social status, corporate or political power, for profit, career advancement,

job prestige etc. During this transit, everything Capricorn - credibility, credit, credentials, verification, reputation, authority, accreditation, endorsement, qualification, certification, celebrity, and acclaim, among others - are undergoing a complete overhaul. These socially defined concepts, connected to Capricorn's earthy, cardinal nature, are amplified and taken to the extreme over this time. The abuse of power (Pluto) against the marginalised (Eris), and rectification of injustice are brought to the LIGHT OF DAY may be uncomfortable, as the challenge to the status quo is strong with Pluto traversing into Aquarius.

The human collective has to come to terms with insecurities, anxieties, distortions, and obsessions around governance, control, and administrative dominance.

In Australia this is playing out powerfully in the discussions to allow Aboriginal voice in parliament, the potential of Australia to become a republic (freed from British rule), potential for referendum, the provision of housing affordability in the face of a cost of living crisis, etc. It’s about how the sense of duty of those who take leadership positions in society and society's grassroots social conscience and consciousness are shifting, which is complex.

Pluto in Aquarius promises to be a challenging and revolutionary time that will turn society upside down, with the evolution of both society from grassroots up, science and technology.

This new cycle in Aquarius that will ultimately bring a beneficial shift to society at large, rather than the small group that dominates from the top down. Pluto in Aquarius may be seen as about 20 years of levelling the playing field, so that power is shared more equitably. But it is not without initial birthing and growing pains… as is evident at present with Pluto hovering around the 29th degree Capricorn…

Astrologer Fay puts Pluto in Capricorn’s dilemma eloquently: "During this period of purging, while the establishment makes its desperate last ditch attempts to conserve itself, the powers that be use all the might of their resources to defend and justify the system as it is. There is an obsession with money, material wealth and profit-making, regardless of human suffering, a ruthless defence of aspiration and ambition, regardless of the consequences, and the need for a strict hierarchy, with an emphasis on people ‘knowing their place’ and doing as their superiors dictate."

“Past secrets and lies are unveiled, corruption is exposed, the greed, lust, tyranny and depravity of those in respected positions is unearthed. Betrayals and dirty dealings by those we have trusted to rule us come to light. Scandals break out. Those who abuse their power and position are named and shamed and their reputations destroyed as the damage and trauma they have caused others is revealed. Cans of worms are opened up, ghosts of the past present themselves, skeletons in the closet come out and smoke-screens created to hide the truth are cleared. There is a powerful urge to purge what is rotten within, to unmask the demons and exorcise evil, often through violent challenge if not destruction and death. This is a time of karma and payback, when evil-doers in powerful positions get their come-uppance.”

Regeneration and New Fertility: Haumea Square Pluto

Haumea has started the square to Pluto early in 2022 which signifies intense capacity for transformative re-creation, with a profound underlying dimension of the underworld theme of destruction leading to rebirth.

Both Pluto and trans-Neptunian object Haumea carry themes of transformation and regeneration. They will be squaring for many, many years to come… As Haumea moved into Pluto’s home sign of Scorpio in November 2022 for the first time, this theme will likely gain momentum. With massive change and transformation the new normal.

Haumea’s Hawaiian stories have elements of good governance of government in them… and overthrowing those old orders who don’t live pono, kuleana or aloha.

Haumea in Libra energy is indecisive and extremely changeable in relationships, and a crisis around what seeds to nurture, and what not. What is fiercely believed one day, may be radically altered the next. In the crisis degree Haumea’s wild creative stirrings is not a good energy for stability and continuity.

Haumea’s Hawaiian legend on its own, has many elements regarding regenerative capacity, renewal and fertility. As well as relationship between self and a larger community, to nurture in relation to the wider field of connectivity. It has higher expression elements of laying strong foundations and being committal to community. Also creating new government that benefits all, after an old regime was taken down…

But with Haumea in the 29th degree, it may manifest as being non-committal, superficial, vain, and unstable in relationships; not having sufficient confidence, nor stability in self, to extend to others in relation. Perhaps being highly challenged to be in ‘right relationship’ with ‘all relations’ due to not having a mind of one’s own; being easily swayed by others opinions or judgements. Being unable to be objective and unable to be productive.

Being disconnected. Holding back. Yet in giving others silence and detachment in relationship, causing heartbreak. Haumea in the anarectic degree may manifest as a shallow person who do not love themselves sufficiently, nor have genuine divine connection, and therefore cannot grow. They are stunted, therefore they have nothing of value to give in relation to others, and may have immense self-worth issues as a result. Lacking respect for self AND others, yet wanting to string others along in toxic co-dependency.

Haumea at the 29th degree of Libra is a case of ‘conflictilitis’, which is the (made-up) word for someone suffering from conflict within themselves, due to not following their own heart.

Haumea moved into the 29th degree Libra in November 2021 to finally leave it in September 2023, for its long stay in Scorpio.

Time Freeze to Reconsider: Sedna Trine Pluto

Sedna will be traversing the 29th degree Taurus until finally leaving it for Gemini in April 2024.

The last degree of Taurus is about the traitors, greed, ill-gotten gains and thwarted plans and loss. It’s extreme materialism, great losses, stolen wealth and globalisation. Also food shortages, global supply chain issues, endangered species dying out, and the sins against nature.

Sedna is associated with time seemingly slowing down, or a feeling of a time freeze… allowing for soul searching… Sedna is restraint, suspension, stalemate and atonement. Sedna is much like The Hanged Man card in the tarot, where one is held at a disadvantage, caught in a web, frozen in time. It’s detachment and isolation and chastisement, being forced to see things from a different point of view. It’s the suspension or even punishment following betraying one’s self in doing, or allowing something in one’s life that was known to be wrong. It’s the silence of constraint that brings deeper self-knowledge and sharpens the intuitive senses as a blind man "sees". It’s tapping a deep root of uncommon knowledge, and a life pared down to the basics. It’s a liminal space state between chapters in life.

Sedna conjunct the Pleiades (the Weeping Sisters) until 2026, which entail the return of needing to allow the feminine principles, like healthy feeling, sensing, emotions and intuition, and tapping into connection with Soul Self; as a divine being having a human experience.

Sedna in astrology is about over-riding power issues vs powerlessness.

And with Sedna trine Pluto a ‘karmic flood’ comes in to dig up, and deal with unresolved power/control struggles from the past in all humans, but especially pulling on the ego and power issues of the leaders of the world.

Fearing the Loss of Power and the Sharing of Power

There is a tremendous fear of losing power in those who used to wield it in selfishness and this is reflected in Persephone’s relationship to Pluto and her mother Ceres/Demeter, who wanted to keep her creativity, potential and eventual autonomy blocked.

Image: Persephone enthroned via Wikimedia Commons.

They wanted her small and disempowered and under their thumb (Eris in astrology), and eventually saw the error of their ways in stifling another person who wants to be free from abuse of power.

Pluto and her loving but overprotective, smothering mother eventually learnt to allow her self-empowerment, despite the selfishness of what they wanted.

Pluto in particular, learnt to be involved in her self-empowerment, allowing her to take her throne in autonomy, and rule with lovely Persephone as his equal, which is the transition we are currently seeing. Read the Pluto blog from the start for that storyline.

Persephone was Goddess of Spring and Renewal, and the name Persephone and Proserpina were forerunners in the naming of the planet that eventually became Eris.

Pluto Ingress into Humanitarian, Egalitarian Aquarius

Pluto will be both about doubling down on the positive aspects of Aquarius as humanitarian pursuits and scientific advancements for change in society for the better, as well as the negative aspects. Pluto is about the exposure of corruption as it relates to the sign it is in. In Aquarius this may entail the exposure of where technology has been used against humanity to further corrupt agendas.

It may also be about grassroots humanitarian organisations, movements or social groups where there had been an exercise to use power, toxicity, and control over people. Pluto in Aquarius will bring extremes and polarisation as it relates to science in particular, with some extremely positive about new technology like AI, and others vehemently against it.

Above is a chart of Pluto’s first ingress into new zodiac sign; Aquarius. The bright yellow lines are all within a 3 degree orb, and the dull lines are just slightly out of the 3 degree orb afforded a Yod. The Sedna Yod, Haumea Yod and Vauna Yod are all within close orb, except for the Gongong Yod that moves within orb on 20 April. Note that Varda is conjunct the Galactic Centre bringing her light infusion... Not all the aspect patterns are highlighted in this chart.

Pluto has an orbit around the sun of 248 years, compared to Eris for which it is 558 years.

Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008, and will transit Aquarius from 2023 to 2044, spending about 18 and a half years that sign in total, with a few dips in and out at either end due to retrograde motions. Here are some key dates:

  • Enters Aquarius on 23 March 2023

  • Retrogrades into Capricorn on 11 June 2023

  • Re-enters Aquarius on 21 January 2024

  • Final visit to Capricorn from 1 September 2024

  • Enters Aquarius to stay from 19 November 2024

  • Dips into Pisces on 9 March 2043

  • Final visit to Aquarius on 31 August 2043

  • Enters Pisces to stay on 19 January 2044

Four Yods and Two Hammer of Thor aspect patterns

Below is a slideshow that demonstrates the four Yods and two Hammer of Thor aspect patterns (in red colour), that four trans-Neptunian objects make for many years to come. Pluto squares Haumea and makes a Hammer apex at around 15 degrees Gemini. MakeMake squares Ixion/Quaoar for many years as well, making a Hammer apex in the last degrees of Taurus.

Image: This discovery image, taken by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, shows five moons orbiting the distant, icy dwarf planet Pluto. The darker stripe in the centre of the image is because the picture is constructed from a long exposure designed to capture the comparatively faint satellites of Nix, Hydra, Kerberos and Styx, and a shorter exposure to capture Pluto and Charon, which are much brighter. Kerberos has an estimated diameter of 13 to 34 kilometres, and Styx is thought to be irregular in shape and 10 to 25 kilometres across. via Wikimedia Commons.
